This machine works perfect with only one 2GB SO-DIMM module. Want to use in this machine a LK-105 but as soon as the second RAM module is installed - exactly same make, exactly same type "Buffalo", in fact "loaned" from another good working BH-C-280, the screen freezes after half a minute when ready with booting. No entries can be made, whole machine is locked up. I need the RAM upgrade because the machine should have the LK-105 kit for OCR scanning.

Any idea what could be wrong? 2x2GB modules of the same type is too large?

Wrong ram stick.
Lk105 is a license kit ($$) and requires the uk203 specific ram to work correctly.

I have a license kit certificate number but not the extra ram module. It would need another type of ram module than the additional 2GB (making a total of 2x 2GB) to function?

I think the UK-203 was 1 GB.

Recently I used a 2gb module from a Ricoh MFP as UK-Ram for a C300i since the sales people forget to order it - no problemo ;)

Not shure for the C280 though, are you shure the UK was also 2GB so the machine had 4GB in total? Sounds a lot to me considering the age of that MFP generation.

Exactly.
