Hi, I have a client with an Olivetti D-color 282Plus.
The printer keeps restarting every 2-3 seconds. Looks like a bizhub C284e to me. In all likelihood, the SSD no longer works. I tried to detach DF and HDD. Do you think I can insert a new Bizhub C284e SSD?

Try updating the firmware first

Yes, change the SSD. I replaced a few last year, even with the controller firmware fix installed...
Sometimes you need a total clear and Moviedata after replacing it, if you get a SSD error.

If the machine is on a continual boot loop the SSD has failed & the only option is to replace it.

You won't get the firmware to update because the machine is continually rebooting.

Yes you can use a Konica Minolta SSD. (must be new)

No, you can use a old one!
Replace and put in usbstick with newest firmware on first boot. Most time it works, sometimes you need a clear all data.

If you use an old one to risk having a counter mismatch error.

I have ordered a new SSDB.
I will be using the firmware of a bizhub C284e. I believe that "plus" corresponds to the "e" series.
I will let you know

Yes, plus means (e)nhanced.
Try the KM fimware, but it happened once that it didn't work, it depends on the firmware version. Then software switch 10 from 04(generic Brand) to 01(KM)

Hi, I proceeded like this:
- Replaced SSD but keeps restarting.
- Removed options but keeps restarting.
- RAM removed: MFP stops restarting but nothing comes out on the display. Startup noise only.
- RAM replaced unsuccessfully.

At this point I am thinking of a broken MFPB. Some idea?

if you think it's a 284e how many "fins" pop up before it re boots..and have you tried doing a trouble reset to get to the point where you can enter service mode to check what the error is?

The printer fails to turn on, so no errors displayed.
At this point I think PSU or motherboard defective.

Your OP says re-booting..in most cases the re boot occurs after the LCD shows something..Number of fins coming up can help in troubleshooting..So you are saying you power it on and it cycles on/off at this point? E

2-3 seconds are not enough to see anything meaningful Ed.

Was it possible to load a firmware after replacement? Try reseat SSD.

Hi, the printer can only stay on for 2 seconds, so:
- Unable to log in in service mode.
- Reset tool does not have time to start.
- Failed to update firmware.

Thank you!

Bix, do you have a new SSD with green Dot? (with 6.05 already installed?)
Have a look in the troubleshooting guide.

If you can't install the firmware i think it is not possible to boot a new ssd up.
Once i forgot the firmware after replacing the ssd the device always had a bootloop.

And check your firmware in Knova. Are the generic brands, (olivetti D-Color, Develop ineo) listed in the compatibility list?

Hello occus, thank you for your reply.

in germany we are having logistical problems due to bad weather and the parts are arriving late. I have ordered a new SSD which is yet to arrive
For now I have taken a used SSD to make it stop rebooting. But I have seen that the solution is not effective. The printer keeps restarting anyway.
Firmware is also unknown. I wanted to try a Konica Minolta firmware because there seems to be no Olivetti firmware on Knova.

You need to fit a NEW SSD.

Hi, good news.
The SSD used was not working but I received the new SSD (identical for Konica Minolta 4e series).

Now it works again!
Thank you all for the support.
Special thanks also to @occus!

By the way (it has nothing to do with the problem). For those interested: Konica Minolta toners and drums cannot be inserted on this olivetti 282+. it is necessary to make some modifications to the plastics.

Yes, I also said a few posts ago.

I have ordered a new SSDB.

But the weather was bad in Germany, transport slowed down.So in the meantime I had inserted an SSD used to understand if it stopped restarting. But this technique doesn't work.

No, as I said you can't fit a used SSD for this issue.

I was hoping it would stop rebooting and return an error with used SSD.
I keep learning from mistakes. Thank you.

Always worth trying used parts but to be honest in my experience you have a much higher success rate fitting brand new parts & often fitting used boards you create more issues.
