I put a Bizhub 4050 at a coworkers house and it fails to send email so I tried to trouble shoot another 4050 at the office and I get the same results. I think I have tried every which way under the sun to make it work but there is something off here. I was using a tester gmail account that works on all other machines in the office with the exception of the 4050 so I made a new email address with gmail and got the same results.

I have tried multiple firmware and a special FW that dealt with TLS but I can't seem to get this model of machine to send out. We had one at a customer's office using email but it was through their email server and was not authenticated.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

What I know:
- Date and time -correct
- Engine Firmware - G0501-999 ( I tried the latest but backed it down at this point)
- Email & password - correct
- smtp - smtp.gmail.com
- has from address and all of them match

Log into the account with your phone/laptop and send the mail again..There may be a 2 factor setting causing gmail to reject the mail. Also, the normal port is 465 so it may be an SSL issue. If you are still using the unsupport certificate you need to change a dipswitch to allow SHA2-2048..then deleted and install a new cert. My favorite moment is when some a hole customer is blaming my machine for his mail woes, and when we log in to the gmail account he gets a "new device is trying to log in..Accept?" Priceless. E

Make sure you turn on the flag of the "Authentication on unsafe devices" option in the Google Security settings.

Use post 465 SSL & check the admin email/from address is the authentication address.

With gmail you need to turn on "allow less secure apps" after you send the first email log onto that gmail account for any emails.

The email I am using has the "lesser apps allowed" turned on and it works on 4 other machines. I have two 4050's and it doesn't work on them. I have tried SSL with port 465 and TLS 587 and none of those work on these machines.

The scan isn't getting to the gmail server and leaves no trace in the email account like it was blocked or anything. Of course these 4050's only say "error" when it fails to send. Well, Scan TX failed.

I trust you have done the basics, gateway & DNS correct? I usually turn on DHCP when troubleshooting.

If the above are correct & you know the gmail account is good it will only be a machine setting or firmware issue. Did you update the scanner fw?

Does it have DNS up addresses?

Have you tried substituting the IP addresses for the SMTP server?

Google doesn't officially say this but we run into it from time to time.
Gmail will block some copiers when they change networks. We test send with a laptop, hook the copier back up, then it works.

Just tried this and it didn't work.

Here are the settings. The SMTP page is slightly different but I feel like I have tried every combination of settings but I must be overlooking something.

as a test can you set it to DHCP for everything and retest?

I set it back to DHCP and it pulled a domain name of ISP and set the DNS to 75.75.75.75 / 75.75.76.76 / 0.0.0.0 But it still failed to send an email.

I did have the year wrong in the date and time but that has been fixed and it still won't send email or meter test.

You may have to resort to using telnet with the copiers network settings to see if you can access the ports. E

I have 4 other MFP's on this network using the same email address and settings and they scan just fine..

I found a section in the service mode for SMTP TX authentication, so I input the account info there but didn't help either.

I can telnet through to gmail's server without issue so I don't think it's a network issue.

Finally got it to work!

I did another system settings reset and put all the info back in for the smtp, clicked apply and and wallah, it worked. It is the exact same info I have in the screenshots.

Thank you all for the help!
