I'd remove toner, run multiple full bleed test pages in that colour until it asks for toner to be replaced then reinstall toner cartridge

I'd say it's a high likelihood that the chip is the problem.

I noticed that the C454e ignores a new toner if a customer replaced it before actual toner end condition.

Solution:

1. ignore the false toner remaining prognosis
2. remove the toner and run full bleed color patterns until the MFP says "toner end" then re-insert the toner

Run oem toner and wont have any problems. Those aftermarket chips are hit or miss....

I'm sure this is right strategy for C224e-364e which toners don't have chip. But don't have this model in field. Will it work if toner has a chip? Or machine will ask to put toner inside and refuse to work?

In my "EU" market region I can run a C454e/C458 even without a toner installed so it seems the MFP does not really care about the chip. This fix works for me, too.

OK, got it. However I'm pretty sure on C250i series will not run without one of toner cartridges.
