Best colour copier for heavy stock?

Need a little advice here please.

I'm looking for a used (simply can't afford new) machine that will take coated/uncoated stock A3+ up to or over 300gsm weight that will give decent colour production. Would be nice if the toners are not too hidiously expensive and is relitively easy to maintain (i have an intimediate level tech knowledge). Not asking much is it ;)

I suppose you want it to duplex that 300g/m2 stock also?

You don't want a copier. You want a press. Let me be the first to tell you that a copier is just not suited to stock this heavy, and the poor SOB that sells you a machine will forever listen to you complain about jamming, poor fusing, wrinkling, and poor transfer.

Should you choose to run paper stock at 180g/m2 or less, now lets start talking about copiers.......=^..^=

True, very true.... but i've had great results with the newer xerox copiers at 260-300gm. I'm just really trying to find out what model/make others have had sucess with and how they compaire for the price.

I have been looking at a Richo 6513 that i'm told is happy with heavier stocks, anyone familiar with it?
possibly the Sharp Ar-c260m too but i've heard it's not too reliable?

I wouldn't recommend the C260M. Sharp does have the new A4 line of Frontier machines. Not sure what the specs are, but I know they are getting more capable of running heavier stocks & duplexing it. They are quite a bit cheaper initial cost, but supplies are a little higher than average.
Remember, just because you test a machine & pass a couple pages on heavier than spec'd stock, doesn't mean it not going to tax the supplies & fusing rollers a lot earlier than expected. And you can't expect the dealer to eat that.

300 g/m2 is way out of spec for the Whale (AR-C260M), and the color is just not that great. Also it doesn't have enough memory limiting its functionality. =^..^=

Oki C9650/9850.

These printers can print till 300 g/m2, but they're expensive.

Ricoh Aficio MPC 2500
Inexpensive color MFP and takes up to 253 g/m2 paper.

I've seen some pretty terrific results from small non-profits sending full color card stock postcards. Looks very professional for small runs and it doesn't freak out too much with odd paper textures.

Please, please, please...don't even consider the Ricoh 6513 for coated stock!! You will be happy for about 1 week and then the fuser will go toes up on you. The 6513 is old technology, slow color printing, expensive to maintain and NOT made for the type of stock you want to print. Trust me, as a tech with field experience on this model, someone has been yanking your chain about the 6513 being "happy with heavier stocks".

Back away from the copier and take the heavy coated stock to a print shop. :D

Ricoh 6513 is a good machine if your tech can sit by the machine. It's also fairly old tech. The Konica Minolta C6500 machine can run 300 g/m2 fairly well, but I think it's limited to single sided. Makes terrific prints considering its relatively low cost.

There is something i can recommend. Toshiba 2500c/3500c/3510c.
You can buy used one. You can feed it by 300g on bypass.
We have 2 of this (2500c) in print shops for 3 years now.
They are printing almost everything on 200-300 g in duplex and it's ok.
Both of them have 150k+ on counter. All parts should be replace on time.
Every toner has 550g.

ricoh 6513 is an old unit ...but the fuser is huge and uses fusing oil ....... would prolly work (never seen one with that heavy of paper) but where would you get parts.......

I used an KonicaMinolta C352 for 280g and its been runing happily for over year and half. afcorse i dont print always. machine have 120k and i had 20k copies whit hevier stock. I tried runing 300gm and all depends of paper manufacturer.
