Hello all, I am having 3003 jams. Machine has about 500k on it. Seems to be worse from large capacity tray 3 but will do it from tray 1 also. Folds paper over in a loose fold right below fuser. Will jam like this every 50-100 copies.

any ideas??

30-03 codes are usually caused by either the exit sensor over the fuser or the exit clutch, but in both cases the paper makes it through the fuser.

I'm going to guess that you have up to (9) pieces of paper jammed in the fuser, stalling the fuser drive motor. Many endusers have no idea that the little guide on the top of the fuser lifts up. =^..^=

no paper is jammed in the fuser. What sensor are you referring to? PS number?

thanks

J30-03 paper doesn't reach fuser exit sensor

Before all on 500k check for rust on fuser interlock (right side door). If so, replace paper exit clutch.

1. Damp paper?
2. Check guide on top of ITB
3. Check fusing unit enterance guide
4. Remove registration unit (IDC sensor unit with registration roller and clutch)
5. Replace registration clutch and registration sensor.

Remove the fuser and look very closely at the black fuser entrance guide. I have seen several times where the enamel coating will peel back and catch paper.

I second this but it’s not enamel.

it’s a plastic film that peels and catches the paper.

Its easy to get the guide out and run a sharp blade down the back of the guide to remove the worn part.

Saves replacing an entire fuser.
