Hi! to all.

I´m working on a Bizhub C258 who have the custom / manual paper size setting function for tray 1 and tray 2 disabled. Only auto paper size detection via paper tray sensors is available, which only permits the machine to work with standard paper sizes. My costumer needs to print a lot on custom paper sizes, so the by-pass tray is not a valid solution. I searched in all the machine menus as well in all the tech service menus for a way to solve this with no luck. No visible option for enabling or disabling that function. I've talked to some of my colegues but none knows how to do it. I think the solution is somewhere on the "firmware dsw's" settings on the tech menu, but can´t get any information wich is wich.
Can anyone point me to the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, can you post a picture for better understanding?

Are you implying that any paper tray on your bizhub C258 can identify non-standard paper sizes, under any circumstances? You can certainly PROGRAM non-standard paper sizes through the panel, but the tray will not be able to automatically identify non-standard paper sizes. =^..^=

This is what I need the machine to do. Photos are from another machine.

I want to manually program non-standard sizes, but this funtion is unavailable on this machine.

Sure there are no user authentication setup on the machine with some restrictions?

Can always try and initialize user settings.

User authentication is not turned on in this machine. I did "clear all data" on service mode but did not solve the problem

If you activate Engine FW DipSW 19 it's possible to select custom-size paper detection of the tray 1 and tray 2.
Beware that in earlier C258's the guides in the paper trays can only be set to fixed posistions.

Thank you. I'll try that when I go back on the machine.

Finally problem solved.

Dipsw 19 was already activated with Hex value value 80. Maybe it depends of other dipsw to allow custom paper size on trays 1 and 2.

The way it worked was by copying the dipsw settings of another machine that already had that function enabled.
I changed the folowing:

Dipsw n. previous Hex value changed to Hex value

10 02 04
25 40 B0
51 F0 00
72 04 00
125 02 00
146 00 30
157 20 00
175 00 02
226 00 90
227 80 00
230 08 40

One of them must have did the trick as now machine allow the use of custom paper size on tray 1and 2.
Unfortunally I did not had the time for change back one by one to identify the right one. Too late on the end of the day.

One of the changes must be related to the way the computer gets the machine state as now when we press get device information on the computer driver an error message pops saying "printers can not be conected. Check port definitions. The machine prints ok altough, even on custom size paper.

Thank you for all the help.

Thanks for posting back, and collecting the appropriate data. We can work with that to narrow it down further. =^..^=

Engine FW DipSW 19 doesn't have hex values. Those switches are either On or Off.
Anyway good job but it's not recommended to change software switch values without need.

It tells what brand machine is - Konica, Develop, Olivetti etc.

It tells what brand machine is - Konica, Develop, Olivetti etc.

If that is correct for switch 10, it's one that the OP may want to change back, as now it will always report a different brand and model of machine in the web interface, on all reports, etc. And from my experience, changing the brand switch usually wipes out some of the network and other custom settings back to factory defaults.

We are a bit off this topic. He changed a lot of settings non related to the final goal.
