Good afternoon all,

I am based in the UK and it would appear that all recycling of used Konica Minolta Toner Cartridges is a chargeable service. Having looked around various manufacturers it would seem that many now offer a free service as shown below. My question is do Konica Minolta in the other parts of the globe charge for free recycling or is it a case of ripoff Britain ?

Brother Earth Free ink & toner recyclingBrother provide their ‘Earth’ recycling scheme that will allow you to recycle inks, toners, drums and even old printers and the best thing of all is that it’s completely free to use. Similar to other brands, recycling is done responsibly and you can rest assured that nothing goes to Landfill.

Lexmark Cartridge Collection ProgramLexmark offer 3 ways to arrange the recycling of your empty cartridges. Firstly you can use the recycle bag that comes with ‘Return Program Cartridges’ and post them yourself. Secondly, you can print off a box label on the Lexmark website (for small quantities) and finally, you can arrange for a recycling box and get it collected for free when it’s full.

Xerox Green Alliance RecyclingUnlike other brands, Xerox only recycle certain products and you will need to select the printer and product model from their list. If your product isn’t on the list, they suggest you recycle via other methods. If you’re looking to recycle empty Xerox toners, visit the following link:

In Canada, if a customer will pay to ship their empty toner cartridges and waste toner containers back to one of several Toshiba HQ offices, Toshiba will absorb the cost for a 3rd party to ecologically repurpose these items.

All OEMs promote their green ISO 14001 credentials of which recycling is one requirement.

Some dealers will collect the "empties" from their customers and ship back in bulk, at their expense, to Toshiba for recycling.

Most customers are reluctant to pay for recycling and expect the OEM to pay the cost.

Most companies want to know that their empties will not go to a landfill.

Some dealers will tell customers that they recycle their empties, pick them up and then secretly throw them in the garbage back at the office.

The US market for konica has a clean green earth thing. They send a big box for all the empties and a prepaid shipping label to send out when full
