c258 toner spreading/dropping onto psu glass

Hi,

I have had this problem on a few machines, I thought it might be the katun toner, Im using "business colour" and have only used this, machines have done 150k colour upwards, however there is a part of the dev unit that connects to a ducting system at the back of the machine to check, does anyone know which fan drives this, and if it's common for it to get blocked, and if there is an easy fix.

At 150+ color clicks and using Katun colour toners you've been asking for troubles long time ago.
Not easy to get out there without replacement of expensive color developer units or at least converting K into colour ones.

It seems to effect one colour in most cases usually the cyan, if it was the toner, wouldn't all the colours drop toner in the same way?

This is a C258 like your title says?

Sounds like a 4/4e series from your description of the issue, if it's only cyan.

thanks for that, I will be checking for blocked air ducts tomorow.

The C258 doesn't even have a toner filter, though. Also, no air ducts since there is no toner filter to receive any toner (just confirmed on a C368 we have in the shop). So, not sure why it's included in those pdfs.

Been to the machine today, they have done 400 colour copies since I last vacced out the machine, here are some pics of the inside.

There are air ducts the dev units press onto at the back, they are contianed into the drive unit, however theses didnt look blocked, but I vacced them out using a long tube vac attachment.

Guess I learned something today, then. I just pulled out a drum and there is no air ducts on those like there is on the 4/4e series. I wonder where the toner goes from the ducts since there is no toner filter.

I dont know that range you mentioned, however the ducts are on the top of the dev unit so you wont see them just by removing a drum, I would upload the photos I took on site if I could work out how to send them here.
