Brother HL-4040

We are facing problem in Brother HL-4040 color laser printer in copy quality. Light copy, no fast color, specially in red color. Tried every thing but not succeded.

Are you talking about the printout speed?

Regarding the problems with the image density:

Maybe you have problems with high air humidity. In this case it is sometime hard to improve anything. You can set up the paper type as "thick" what does usually increase the transfer performance and decrease the printout speed. Another suggestion is trying another paper type like color copy paper.

We recently bought a Brother HL4040 for use in our home. At the same time, my spouse got a new HP printer at the office.
Printing the same picture on the two printers from the same Windows labtop (picasa) gives _vastly_ different results.
The 4040 prints are light, less red, less 'saturated'(?).
The same 'wrong color' quality print is seen if printed from a Mac (iPhoto).

On the Mac, through photoshop, I have located icm profiles, changing them makes - to my not-photographer eye - absolutely no difference....

On the 4040 I have used the screeen and menu to find something about calibrating and registering color, automatically and manually and gone through that.
No difference.

Is there no way to correct for this?
Is this a really bad machine in terms of color?
Or is this individual machine a lemon?
