BH-C-284e was working very well after rebuild and testing in my workshop but now at the customers place it sometimes - after days, is dropping from the network and is coming back when the patch cable is taken out and put back again. Cable is already replaced once. Should I play with network speed?

Any ideas please?

yes, try 100tx full duplex.

Also check for power disturbances or duplicate IP addresses. =^..^=

Thanks, I checked for duplicate IP Addresses from the beginning. What worries me is that when this happens the little control indicator on the TCP/IP port do not light up. Fiddling with the patch cable an/or switching the machine off and on restores everything to normal. The machine has a fixed IP Address outside of the DHCP range of the router.

If I have to replace the MFPB with one from a loaner, is there a special procedure to take care of? Or just replacing the board with use of the original SSDB and hard drive would do?

If their network switch does auto-negotiation for network speed the copier does the same thing and they cancel eachother out and the switch drops the connection.
Seen it happen a bunch of times.
What you can do is set the speed to 100tx full duplex and have another computer get to a dos prompt and ping it -t ie: ping 192.168.1.x -t
That will continually ping the copier and will show if and when the connection drops as you will get a no reply response.

+1 very good test

If that would be the case, could another switch between MFP and network switch avoid this situation?

Update the firmware & function version then change the sleep mode settings, this was a known issue.

test ping from a computer to the MFP

open a cmd / command box.
type

ping (ip address of mfp)-t
ping 192.168.1.200 -t

it will ping continously to the machine.

check for any rto (request time out). this means, sometimes the machine is not communicating to the computer.

it could be bad lan cable or many switch to switch connection

Sometimes when you update the FW it automatically updates the function version, if not, system 2 in service mode, softswitch 25 set HEX to "60" will give you function version 7, if at the latest FW

Here's the latest firmware bulletin.

Update the firmware then as King Arthur said 'system 2 in service mode, softswitch 25 set HEX to "60" will give you function 7'

Hello.

I just noticed this topic now.
I already had a similar situation with a model of the 4 series and I managed to solve it by changing the IP for another range and when I put the old IP back, I was already able to print.
