Have not been able to get any C300i to feed customers 270GSM card stock through bypass tray but its ok from tray 1.

The pickup roller doesnt slip on paper it just doesnt spin. Works fine on other stock though and copier is brand new.

if i totally remove sep roller but leave the guide install it feeds fine but would limit them to only a single page in tray at a time.

I tried cutting a loop or so out of sprint to allow it a larger gap but didnt help.

any idea?

or should i just try taking more off the spring? I really thought the new pickup assy would of worked much better than previous generations but surprisingly this card stock went through the old 8 series fine

... The pickup roller doesn't slip on paper it just doesn't spin...

You can stop right there. Focus on the pickup roller drive, clutch or one-way. A simple test is to reach into the slot with your finger and roll the pickup tire one-direction, then the other to see if that one-way is slipping. =^..^=

The new bypass is simply worse than the old version on thick paper.

Yeah we had to modify some because the thick paper wont't pass the sep roller. Our first attempt was using a corrugated rubber roller for pickup and fiddling around with the sep roller assy - that worked "okay-ish". Final solution was just a downgrade to the old style sep roller.

I just tried this on another customers copier having same issue as my previous customer and now its working like a charm.

i noticed the i series sep roller is clutchless compared to the one way spring on the 8 series. might start doing this to all i series at runup

Just to verify, you are referring to part # 4658015106 for the old sep roller?

Just wanted to add, that Compression Spring AA7NP10100 is available for the i series. It is a different separation pressure spring which is for machines that have issues with envelopes and thick paper from the bypass tray...

Probably a lot cheaper too, unless you happen to have excess stock in the separation rollers.
