On several occasions one of the 7145's screen freezes when scanning/copying. I press the scan button and it always seems to show one job and displays 71%. The engineer always clears the cache or something but normally takes at least 2 days to come out. If this is something I can do myself it would save alot of time.

thanks

Turn it off the power switch and Main power switch. Back left side of the copier. Shh.. it's a secret, solves a lot of hiccups

If it has become problematic your service tech needs to correctly diagnose your problem. If it's non-network related, then it might need the NVM replaced.

It is your main board - I had this problem numerous times.

Have you got HDD on this machine ?

1.If yes, unplug it and try turn on without HDD.

2.Check all service calls on your management list, is there anything suspicious like comunication errors between boards.

My question would be, has the HDD been replaced recently? There is FW to run a larger HDD than was available at the purchase date. W/O this FW, the 7145 would hang after scanning.

Definitely sounds like a Hard drive issue, have the drive replaced and have the back cover drilled out where the fans are and if the Hard Drive fan is set to blow out have it turned around to blow inward. Hard drive over heating was a known issue on these machines.
