Hi guys,

got a machine that constantly has P-22 code (colour reg adjust failure)

i have reseated all drums + devs. i have replaced both the IDC sensors, tried intialize and stabilization, ran gradation adjustment, also ran print head skew adjust, am going to try FRB next but does anyone have any other suggestions?

consumable lifes are all about 50%

Check the transfer belt, if it is worn replace it. You will sometimes get the 3-d effect also. What happens is there are tiny scratches on the belt right where the idc reads toner on the belt.

Do you get clear CMYK half tones at 125?

i would give 1 more try at changing IDC sensors again

Is the IDC sensor shutter working properly. It gets stuck if you clean in that area. Remove that section again and check if the solenoid can do its job.

I would try the FSB. Since the IDC sensors connect to it (if i'm not mistaken) and since you already replaced the sensors I would look there.

I would also make sure the IDC sensor shuttle is working. Jig it open and see if the error goes away.

What happens if you run Stabilizer (Initialize + Image stabilization)?

It can go out of alignment ever so slightly it seems open but still not correct.
You cab jig the door and the fuser and have a look if the patches are all there.

it then brings up a P-14 code

Cyan developing isn't that great. Not sure if it will help. =^..^=

Time to bring out the electrical diagram and trace the wiring to the issue. Might be a high/low voltage issue.

That is easy to see just check the IDC sensor values under state confirmation. I have had good values but the shutter did not not seem to close and that also gave P-codes.

Well you seem to have done everything except replacing the ph unit. I’ve had these go faulty on this model a couple of times so might be worth trying that.

Cheaper to replace the Belt and KDR first, everything is referenced off black.
P codes were mentioned but was there an actual color registration issue? P22s and color reg for me has always been the belt, but I've always replaced the KDR anyway just to avoid the callback. Almost every time these have been well under life.

And if you're running into color reg issues they tend to be temporarily fixed by stabilizing. IE Stabilize and it looks great, but slowly drifts over 500 pages then looks good again after it stabilizes.

it then brings up a P-14 code

Reset print heads (you will hear clicking sound 4 times)
Initialization and stabilization.
OFF/ON

You will solve P-14 with this.
P-22 can be related with P-14, so should be gone along with P-14.
If this doesn't help try to switch PH unit from a working machine and see if it helps.

Yes, it really helps community when someone follow up.
Btw, tech51 is always spot-on reminded me Toshiba UK guys who were/are pretty much experienced and capable.

Thanks for the compliment sir. I don’t always get it right but I hope my 40 years experience in the business can point my fellow technicians into the correct area at least😄
