I was just wondering after i saw a few people complaininga bout certain machines or techs who had problems with the same machines over and ver again:

Which Machines do you not like at all and would you like to remove / replace as soon as you have the chance?

I guess top 5 is the C3350i

3 most awful to work on were the royal 110,rbc1,and the 2020!, another nightmare the color7. compared to these the newer machines are easy, got to grin when i hear techs complaining about them.

A4 KM models/derivatives. Every single A4 bizhub I worked on is worse than worst A3 bizhub I ever touched.

Going back a long time, for me the analog Minolta EP-4230 was the most idiotic construction. The development was done in the beginning by a German factory near Stuttgart called Develop. When Minolta acquired Develop they inherited the rotten design and were trying to improve it be redesigning it for over a year in Japan by using parts from the EP-4300. The result was still clunky. Replacing the paper feed rollers not alone was a nightmare. Customer could not remove himself, certain simple paper jams. A technician had to go there, removing guides and other stuff to reach the paper jam.

Agreed, I only have one C3350i here and it's a pile of crap. Already needs new memory or MFP board. C8000 always makes me cringe as well.

It's another variation on Kyocera CF248 errors. Anything from a single document, a print driver setting, a browser based application, a firmware level, or non-print data can cause those errors. =^..^=

I think the c3850 is worse than the c3851. So far I've had no touch screens go bad with the c3851. A bunch with the c3850. They are 500 new and unavailable. I've had to turn several into parts machines because I needed the screen

My fix for the the Bizhub A4 tragedy. Here have a C360 its for free. Don't have space? No problem it works just fine under a tree.

All you need is a long extension cord and a long network cable. =^..^=

I actually do not have sold any bizhub A4 machines. We usually sell a Olivetti Model called d-Copia MF2624 and it is probably the best A4 MFP i have ever seen. Customer can fix most paper jams himself and the parts used are ideal for small to mid business who just dont need A3 Paper. I think i have sold around 50-60 of them by now and had 2 service calls in the last year and one of them was due to missuse by a user (he put sticking paper in the paper tray and it fcked the whole machine in the a*s bc it got stuck between the imaging unit and fusing unit and basically sticked to everything while being moved through the machine)
I agree that it takes a good while to open them up and i did broke one or two plastic coverswhen i player aound with one in my workshop but for around 600 - 800€ it is still a great machine

Those Kyocera/Olivetti A4 machines are the right answer to todays market. The new ink tank type desktop machines are surprising me, they are reliable and cheap. That could close some doors on SLA's.

Not sure if they were still current in 2010, but anyone remember those Magicolor series with the carousel design? Like the 1600w........ I still have nightmares about them.

Yea the last one was the C10. Still remember the way that machine could shake a flimsy table.

I still have two of them in use in my office. Dedicated to print adhesive labels. All 2x2 cassettes preloaded with all types of labels we have, so no need to get up every time to put another sort of label in the manual feed of our standard MFP's. Also do I have enough toner and other supplies for those little noisy critters for a decade. :D

Pretty much all the machines born during this century are a significant improvement over the ones from the 70s and 80s. My personal pet peeve were the Panasonics, but some of the Toshibas were truly lousy as well. As were some of the Sharps.

rrrohan!

Sweet Baby Jesus, those models you listed still make my face twitch, with sick memories of wasted time and travel
to make the UNDEAD live again.

Wicked Pieces of Shit.

$1000.00 was a cool expense to make them Live Again, for 3 months.

Bizhub C25

Bizhub C35

Bizhub C3350/C3850

Any pretty much any iSeries machine, as I firmly believe they are terrible as far as consumables go - yet to see a drum reach anywhere near its stated lifespan!

Maybe you are very young but I don't know if you remember the Sanyo Z series in the 90s they were like the A4 of Km or worse and that they were B/W

I still keep a special place in my heart to HATE the Konica Minolta C25. :)

l can cope with all his always-failing A4 descendants, but that little piece of crap...

Aficio 1224C gives me a gag reflex, too LOL - funny thing is that the update model A3224 was quite OK but sold very little because everybody expected it to be the same fuckup.

anything in the HP A3 range or its Samsung relatives

also the i series colour quality is embarassing. a C280 does nice prints than a C360i imho

The A4 i-series machines are flimsy junk, especially if they're placed in a rough environment. We placed them in a national chain of supermarkets, and at nearly every store, they just beat the living hell out of the thing. I've had to replace so many pieces on the side door and the bypass that have broken off.
