KM just issued a technical bulletin for mandatory modification of the FS-539 finishers. Apparently they were assembled incorrectly at the factory which results in misaligned output when stapling. It looks like it's going to be a fun modification. Not looking forward to doing this at all...

Thank God we don't have one. Looks like a lot of fun involved-springs, grease, tight spaces and possibly damaged FS. What a great QA though!

The techs should get the reimbursement directly from konica. Waste of time

$108, great compensation KM. They should have set fire to the entire i Series machines instead of their toner plants.
Par for the course with KM as of late.

Can be the defect be seen before you start disassembly?

It would be really disappointing to spend two hours disassembling the finisher ... only to discover that you never needed to. =^..^=

I think so.
Have a look to the right roller from outside. The passiv white roller should have a distance from the right margin... you should see the metall axis. If not then the roller are misalignet to the grey active rollers with the spikes.

Or on Pic 2 you can check the distance of the 2 middle rollers, they should be not to close to each other.

Is that the metal guide shaving off the rubber? That's fairly obvious. It sounds like you need to have a new set of rubber rollers on hand before doing the bulletin. Thanks, occus. =^..^=

There is a serial number range listed in the bulletin. Also, any that were produced after the problem discovery, and have the rollers installed properly, will have a "green label" attached to them.

Ah it's only dirt... There is enough space... maybe after the modification http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/images/icons/icon12.png

As they always write so beautifully "Reassembly the FS-539 by reversing the installation instructions"
