i have a km c7000 with a pf601 feeder. The top drawer upon squeezing the handle to open the drawer does not have the "click" sound, and the drawer cannot be pulled out. Is there a way to trigger that mechanism so i can open the drawer ?

Or am i looking at a replacement pf601 unit ?

If you open the small door to the left of the paper feed unit, you'll see a couple of 1/2" round holes through the frame at your right. If you reach a finger through the hole and press the lever, the drawer will release. There is a hole for each drawer, each release lever.

LOL! Take care reaching through that hole: the metal frame is often quite sharp and may leave you bleeding. I was a tiny bit surprised the first time. =^..^=

Awesome poking the hole it works !!!

so I am running jobs again from that drawer albeit manual opening by stuffing my finger into the hold (sounds bad) to open the drawer.

is this fixable ? Or I need to get another pf601 or Lu202

I am not a tech I am a print shop operator with this machine.

I do have manuals for the main print engine but not for the feeder units.

I am going to assume that the lift plate drops back down when you open the tray, as you're able to load and continue to use the tray.

There certainly is no harm in continuing to use the release-hole to open the tray. Those trays have a momentary switch that operates a solenoid to release the tray. I think it's unlikely that the solenoid has any issue, since it's used so infrequently. More likely there is a disconnection in the wiring or the switch on the front cover of the drawer is worn out.

Were it me, I'd remove the front cover of the tray and examine the wiring to the switch, wiring to the solenoid, and check the physical connections. If there are no apparent flaws I'd take an ohm-meter to check that the switch closes when the handle is pulled. =^..^=

Oh.. Front... I took off the back cover many screws saw nothing.

Where are the screws on the front, I thought they may be behind the stickers saying what drawer it is, but I got nothing.

I will try and learn from you guys. Please let me know how to remove the covers of the drawers!!

When you release the tray, you'll see three screws along the top edge of the tray that secure the front to the cassette base. There are also two screws on each side that hold the front on. Remember that there is a wiring harness attached to the front cover. Be gentle, so the wiring is not damaged. You'll have to unplug the connector to the switch (if it isn't unplugged already).
