its werid the i series didnt throw a code.. customer states the copier is jamming.. which yesterday I could not make it do
today it goes into a error has occured will be cleared situation then shows jam so the customer was right.. sort of

the code states its a 2204 which is a waste toner box malfuction.. anyone else have this happen and does a new fresh
waste toner box fix this? its just weird that it does not show a code automatically and you have to really get into the
codes to find this thoughts? thanks a millioin

Some of the i series have a split WTB, you replace the lower half, the upper is more like the hopper. It needs to be set correctly and some did not line up correctly. We have also seen where a clogged transfer belt waste toner section can throw a code causing a reboot loop, check that as well.

It resets the code automatically. Set rank B codes not to reset the machine. Set [Internal error. Auto cancel] to NO. Then the machine will code out and stop. Opening and closing the front door will then reset the code.

there is a bulletin if not mistaken. all you need to do is bend the spring to get more pressure on the lever. 100% fix. it sometimes does dot pop back. its the one on the left by the grey waste bottle

That code is related to the arm on the bottom left where the box goes not returning fast enough. Extra turn on its return spring will cure it, had a few of these in the field myself.

Hi,

Just throwing my experience with this code, it was so random as it could work for a couple of weeks then just throw this code up 5/6 times a day.

It was on a C250i and I’d followed all KM Bulletins relating to lower left corner area (actuator/spring/sensor etc) adding the modded Mylar to stop the spring from coming out of place, followed the bulletin for snipping the cable ties for being too tight.

In the end it turned out to be the upper waste section, when you manually turned the gear it was too stiff. Changed the whole upper waste section and the problem never returned.

C2204 occurs when installing a new waste toner unit..

Root Cause
The force of the screw recoil spring is causing the leaver shaft to raise and bind. Refer to image below.

Workaround/Fix
Replace lever (p/n AA2J369201). Refer to image below.

Solution
CAUSE: Poor connector connection

SOLUTION: The following connector is a new style lock connector it is located just under the expansion control board located in the back of the machine on the top right see image below Expansion Control board is #1 in image, Connector is shown in the image 2.

I tried all the solutions and in the end it was solved by changing upper waste section

so as it turns out.. we replaced the upper and lower toner waste tanks. helped for a day.
but had to replace the spring in the machine itself lower left side. I guess blocking it open or shut didn't help
there is 2 gears with an actuator that opens and closes the sensor. so to speak. does it do that to regulate the
waste toner box springs? anyways it seems to be working the spring was so weak it wouldn't let the actuator function
coding out.. so we will see.. thank you all for your help
