I have a DI 450 that is leaving black smears on the back of the paper and it is from toner that is on the transfer corona plate.Everything around the drum is new but it keeps pulling toner on to the plate. Also it is only towards the back of the machine. Any ideas would be great.

Clean and replace the drum collars on the ends of the mag roller. Also check the contacts on the machine for the mag bias for conductive grease and clean it off. The grease could run and cause dumping as the bias shorts to ground.

if its starter dropping rather than toner (check if its magnetic) then there is a mod thats available but will require a major strip of the machine. or a mdified dev unit.

This is going to sound weird but... under the transsep to the rear of the copier are two silver leaf springs, push them down a bit, they tend to get lifted up when the reg roller is cleaned. You will also probably have a build-up of toner on the black fuser entry plate which will need to be cleaned or you will be getting paper jams.

Also, if you dont' get it repaired in a timely fashion, the fuser entrance guide plate will get a buildup of hardened toner on the rear side, and will cause dogearing and jamming at the fuser.
