If you are an end user and not a tech, you can correct your problem by replacing the "image unit" or "drum unit". You can use a refurbished one you can find easily on the net.

Chage developer and run initializing of developer.

Verify the recycling gears in the IU, and then change the starter, and adjust the atdc....

If the unit has gone the full life, you would want to put a new drum in with the developer. That would be the reason to suggest the whole unit. Good info to have would be the total page count and to know when, if ever , the last change was made. Without that info a tech can not make the correct decision. I am guessing that this was started by someone who was not a tech, that is why just changing the whole unit was suggested.

Welcome
You probably have been converted "Imaging Unit" from a different copier. Since the entries in the "ATDC" - "Level history" does not agree to the copier protested.. This can be corrected manually but it requires skill and time to do so-called "APLA"-page black open hatch originals)

For the patient, and knowledge is good (!):
Entered a number of higher value in your hand - "ATDC". After doing DEVELOPER exhaustion and then entered by a lower value.
So you must repeat the operation until the level of "ATDC" - "55."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE! ONLY for dry mechanics!

This operation requires patience and accuracy.
If the "Developer" is a heavily used or is it enough to consume the toner at a much faster pace and the seals in the calling module will be permanent.
Remember, you have to enter a greater value in your service "ATDC" manually. For example, value = "69".
Turn off and turn on the copier. The copier will start on the manual setting of "ATDC".
Make about 25 copies completely black (for the open cover of the originals).
Go back in service settings and change the value "ATDC" on less. Lower by only a few points instance = "65".
The operation is repeated. You do black copies. Would reduce the value by hand. On the copier until it reaches a repeat at "Imaging Unit value similar to the" 52-55 ".

If you helped give to know ..... ;)
