This machine is giving me a C4520 code at power up. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

        Color registration error
        check for damaged/slipping transfer belt,
        check transfer cleaning unit,
check the color registration sensors (PS8/PS9)

this at first. you can also force a color registration via service mode and interrupt the process by opening the front door; after that, pull processing unit out and have a look at the transfer belt; are the marks looking ok?

I have had this issue as well. My fix required taking the COLOR REGIST ASSY completely out of the machine. I took PS8 and PS9 off the REGIST ASSY and cleaned them both with a lint free cloth.

The other thing I noticed was that one of the cleaning guide arm pads was catching on PS9. Just by taking PS9 out and cleaning it prevented the cotton pad from catching on the sensor. My 45-20 issues disappeared after that.

From that day on I always make sure PS8 and PS9 are completely free from toner build up. I clean during every PM.

Also note which sensor is which when cleaning. Do one at a time.

          Cheers Michael.
