Minolta Di-450 Tray switching.

Anybody know a way to avoid that the machine switches trays as soon as one becomes empty?
Letterhead is loaded in Tray#1 and is marked "Special Paper". However when printing from Tray#1 the machine switches automatically to tray#3 with standard paper when #1 becomes empty. This happens only when printing (Pi-5501) not when copying.

Your users need to select the specific tray in the driver settings and not auto. Not sure on that model, but you could take special off the list of auto paper types or even remove that tray from the auto select list.
Most likely you users need to specify the tray.

I agree with Specialist but this machine has one of the most unreliable switch system for cassettes. The capacity is only on pack of paper and a busy customer load it a few times a day and on the machine with only 2 cassettes and I had calls after calls for showing a wrong paper size like folio on legal and so on. Di 450 was not one of the best Minolta machines and dev unit problems still on it. Not to mention a oops from factory with the web install upside down. Power supply has a few mods and toner waste stuck was one of my favorite. My best advice is get rid of it.

Hi labish,
You seem to have a real downer on the Di450!
I have had numerous customers with these machines with very few problems, maybe you had any early batch?

Yes you're right, the first generation was a real pain for techs. Imagine the face of a customer when you try to install a brand new machine and after the first copy you scare everybody in that office with a laud tac tac tac and error codes and opening the machine you find 2 fingers thickness of developer on top of ST corona unit and the fuser full of the same thing. Mod after mod with no good result the first redesigned dev unit came in about a year and so on. The drum shaft was not properly designed and dumping starter was classical. We eliminate one by one the problems but the PH is still a pain but for me customer working double sided copies for books was another pain. First complain was the ADF memory or the EDH and options for this machine after was sold was expensive. In a office with low volume is ok but all this machines were part of a major account and after a million copies on most of them we lost the account. I think the customer riched his limit. After the merge with Konica the Minolta digital line was replaced with 650, 5510, and so on. Too bad they dump the Di 620 because was a good machine compared with 5510. Have a good one.
