Dear Techs ,
I need to know
is it possible to clone a good fiery harddisk of CF5001 and swap it with the corrupted one.I am sure the harddisk(40GB) is gone/dead with very strange cracking noise.
Please guide me how it can be done.
by which software it must be cloned or how could be installed and programmed a new harddisk in Fiery.

Is Fiery internal (IP921) or external (IP901)? Anyway, it is possible to clone a good Fiery, be sure it's the same type of Fiery, IP 921 or IP 901. But if you don't have cloning software you'll need the Fiery's system software to load via PC. Here's the instruction:

IP 921 System Software via Parallel Port
Overview:
This document explains how to install system software onto the IP-921 (Fiery X3e)
HDD via the parallel port.
System Software:
The IP-921 (Fiery X3e) system software is installed on the HDD at the factory. You
will need to reinstall system software when you upgrade to a newer version of system
software or when you replace the HDD. You may also try reinstalling system software
when you are troubleshooting the system, especially if checking connections does
not solve the problem. The IP-921 (Fiery X3e) System Software includes two system
software files to be installed over the parallel port of the Fiery X3e.
(System software can also be installed via the Ethernet port, see the service manual)
System Software installation reminders:
• Fonts
Installing system software deletes all fonts that the customer has installed on the IP-
921 (Fiery X3e). Only resident fonts will be restored during system software
installation. Fiery Downloader™ can be used to reinstall additional fonts. To
determine which additional fonts were downloaded to the IP-921 (Fiery X3e), print the
Fonts List before you format the HDD and again after you complete the system
software installation. Any fonts not listed after installation will need to be reinstalled.
For more information, see the Printing Guide.
• Compatibility
The latest user software must be installed onto all computers that print to the Fiery
X3e. Using incompatible versions of the system and user software may result in
system problems.
• Installing System Software
The System Software contains two files. The first file is the smaller of the two and
contains basic information required for the IP-921 (Fiery X3e) to boot; the second
contains all of the system software.
System Pre-Requisites:
• A PC with Windows NT/2000/XP
• At least 500MB of disk space free
• Support for ECP mode on the parallel port.
Documentation Reference:
• X3e System Software Service Kit
• Installing the IEEE 1284 parallel port driver software.
• V1.1 Readme

Installing System Software Procedures
Setup the PC:
Access the PC BIOS and make sure that Parallel Port Mode is set to ECP.
Turn on the PC and immediately press the key indicated on your monitor for entering
the BIOS (or a likely key if it is not indicated). Pressing a likely key repeatedly (ESC,
DEL, F1, or a combination) may interrupt the starting of Windows and access the
BIOS or give you directions for accessing the BIOS.
Once in the BIOS, you may have to scroll through several screens to reach the
settings for the parallel port. After setting the Parallel Port Mode to ECP, save your
changes and exit the BIOS.
Installing the IEEE 1284 Parallel Port Driver Software:
1. Locate the IEEE 1284 Parallel Port Driver for Windows NT/200/XP.
2. Double-click the IEEE1284ParelPortDriver.exe icon.
NOTE: DO NOT INSTALL IN THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY
3. Follow the instructions in the Setup dialog boxes. Install into a directory of
your choosing, such as IP921_System
The directory will contain two executable programs that can be used to install
system software on the Fiery over the parallel port.
• compat.exe
This program is used to transfer the boot file. It can also be used to transfer
the system file, but it will take much longer to complete.
• ecp.exe
This program is used to transfer the system file in ECP mode. Parallel port
must have ECP enabled.
4. Restart the computer.

PREPARE FOR INSTALLATION USING THE PARALLEL PORT
1. Print the Configuration page from the Functions menu (if possible) to record
the customer’s current Setup configuration (see the Service Guide).
Setup defaults to its original configuration when system software is installed.
2. Print the Font List(s) from the Functions menu.
The Font List(s) details what fonts are resident on the Fiery X3e. Along with the fonts
that are provided on the System Software CD, the customer may have installed
additional fonts that will be deleted when system software is installed.
3. Turn off the copier main body and the PC before attaching any cables.
4. Connect an IEEE 1284 cable to the LPT1 port on your PC (generally, a 25-pin
D-type connector) and to the parallel port connector on the IP-921 (Fiery X3e)
(see the Service Guide).
TO INSTALL SYSTEM SOFTWARE USING THE PARALLEL PORT
1. Copy the boota.efi and system.efi files into the directory created in the
previous step. (IP921_System)
2. Shut down the IP-921 (Fiery X3e).
3. Turn off the sub power and main power switches of the copier.
4. Put the IP921 (Fiery X3e) into Service Mode by moving the Service switches
to the front (toward the main control board). (see service Guide for more
information)
5. In Windows, open up a Command Prompt.
6. At the Command Prompt, navigate to the directory containing IEEE 1284
parallel port driver and the two system software files (IP921_System). Type
dir and press the Enter key to display the contents of the file.
Note the file name of the smaller file first. This is the boota file.

7. At the prompt, type the command following the file name but do not press
the Enter key yet:
C:\IP921_System>compat –p boota.efi
-p specifies progress to be displayed.
8. Turn on the copier using the main and sub power switches.
9. Wait 5 seconds and then press the Enter key on the PC.
NOTE:
If the Enter key is pressed too soon (under 5 seconds), or too late (over 25
seconds), the boot file transfer may fail. If the transfer fails, recycle power on the
copier, and try again, starting from step 7.
10. When the Controller icon appears on the Control Panel, press the Printer
button.
11. Select Installation from the Function menu.
The message “Flushing parallel port. Please wait...” will appear on the Control
Panel.
12. Return to the PC and locate the system file.
The system file will have a descriptive filename: for example, system.efi. The
system file will also be the larger of the two files.
13. At the PC, type the command following the file name at the prompt but do
not press the Enter key yet:
c:\IP921_System>ecp –p system.efi
-p specifies progress to be displayed.
14. At the message “Copy software to parallel port” on the Control Panel LCD,
select OK. Then press the Enter key on the PC.
NOTE:
If the Enter key is not pressed within 10 seconds, the system file transfer may fail.
If the transfer fails, try again from step 10.
Wait while the Control Panel displays status messages and progress indicators as
the HDD is formatted and the installation is completed.
Do not touch any keys on the copier during thi
This process takes approximately 15 minutes and can take much longer
depending on your PC.

16. Select the name of the language you want to use, scrolling if necessary to
display the required language.
17. Select a Market Region.
NOTE:
If you select English as the language, you must then select “US English” or “UK
English.” If you select “US English” the default paper size is US (non-metric) and
the time stamp is MM/DD/YY. If you select “UK English,” the default paper size is
metric and the time stamp is DD/MM/YY.
18. At the Setup screen, reenter the customer’s settings from the Configuration
page that you printed earlier.
Enter settings and save changes for Server, Network, and Printer Setup, in that
order. Ignore the settings not included on the Configuration page if it is more
appropriate for the network administrator to set them. For more information, see
the Configuration Guide
.
19. After all setup options are configured, select Exit Setup from the Setup
screen.
The Fiery X3e will reboot with the updated system software and setup options.
20. When the Fiery X3e reaches the Idle screen, exit MS-DOS at the PC.
21. Turn off the Fiery X3e and PC before you remove the parallel cable.

Try purchasing a copy of Acronis True Image Home 2009. I use this for most copiers and Fiery's and can confirm that is works.

Please don't try using a cheap and nasty imaging software as you might have issues down the track when trying to install the HDD into the Fiery.

Konica Minolta in Australia use Acronis to image a whole bunch of different controller OS's, including the Fiery OS.

As stated previously, make sure you know which type of Fiery you have as the OS's are different for each type.

Dude, the IP921 system software is a 409mb file! Do you have access to Konica Minolta's technical support page? You can download it from there if you have access.

You can clone any hard drive. We do it to save on hours of re-patching. We use ghost but the trick is to use the correct command line switches otherwise it will ghost but not with the correct master boot record. I can't remeber what the switchs are so you will have to read the ghost documentation. It says something about linux partitions.

I have a ip-921 internal rip installed in a Bizhub pro c500 copier and the server will not boot. The copier control panel just says either rebooting system or system booting and just hangs.
I would like to know if anyone would be willing to sell the system repair disk or download the pertinent files from the konica minolta website and send them to me either via ftp or disk.
I don't have a konica minolta account and this is just a software corruption issue I believe. Fiery lost power while processing a job, I think...
Thank You for your time and if you are willing to do this I greatly appreciate it.
