Hi all,
i'm installing this copier/printer but i'm having an issue:
with the standard Emperon Controller the color isn't pretty realistic, but all gray shades print correctly. With the efi controller (IC-406) all color are so real, but grays turns into some tonality of green. I've done an AutoCal but grays are still greens. Also I have done a complete Fiery reset, i have repeated configuration and autocal but grays are still green.
There are here any fiery specialist?
Thanks in advice an excuse for my bad english.

What do the copies look like as for color. not printing. Make one color copies and see if it is one of the drum units(IU) failing.

If you have a densitometer, then you should be able to sort this out easily.

Install Commandworkstation on a PC along with the Colorwise tools. You are able to then do a calibration using Colorwaise tools and the densitometer which is beter than using the copiers scanner.

Basically, the machine will print out a sheet with colour tiles and then you scan in the colour of the tiles with the densitometer.

The densitometer can be purchased from Konica Minolta or you would have got one with an IC-408 if you have any C6500's out in the field.

The gray point adjustment isn't aviable in my Fiery (KC30CM)
I dont' have any densitometer, the only option i have is autocal inside fiery menu.
Before and after autocal no gray came out.
In copy mode grays are ok.
In Emperon mode grays are ok.
Do i have to deal with ICC profiles?
Anyone here can send me any icc profile for test?
Thanx.

In either the print driver for the ic or if you are using command workstation to send your jobs through, there is a selection to not substitute black but use true black.

The reason it looks like that is because the grey is being produced with c,m,y.

I'm using the official printer driver released by konica minolta for fiery machines.
The true black option is turned on, the issue remain.
Thanks, Luigi Digitalix

For a real gray scale turn CMYK Simulation profile to none.

This will fix your problem...
1. In Colorwise Protools select the Profile Manager. Insert the drivers cd into you cd drive and from the profile manager, browse to the cd and open the ICC folder. In that folder select the profile name "Fiery 31C-M 100 GCR." Click the green arrow next to Output to load the profile on the Fiery.

2. Now, click on the Color Setup on Profile manager and make the following changes.
RGB Source Profile- Print gray using black only-select "Text/graphic/image"
CMYK Simulation- Print gray using black only-select "Text/graphic/image"
Turn Spot Color on.
Black Text/graphics-select "pure black on", Black overprint-select Text/graphics.
For Output Profile select Fiery 31C-M 100GCR.

Now calibrate your fiery with an ES-1000 spectrometer.
All your grays will be a true black tone gray, not a CMYK process gray(the greenish looking gray, also can be kinda purplish looking).

Hi Buster, thanks for your suggestion.
I have a colorwise pro tools, but my software tells me that there is a firmware problem on my fiery. I have just upgraded my fiery to version 1.01, but the error still remain.
Any suggestion?
