Somewhere on the edge of the desert and ocean in the North West of Australia. Hehe. A rather small/large mining town called Karratha.

Look it up on Google Maps as Karratha, Australia, and see how remote places can get ;)

Hahaha, yeah, i have a rather large service area. The farthest i have personally gone for a job was 300km away, 2 and a half hour drive there. So i only got the one job in the one day. I think the farthest customer we have is around 1,000km away, maybe more. For obvious reasons we dont go there very often, which is good. We gave them a low maintainence machine which doesnt need servicing often (they have been shown how to do basic maintainence because it costs them a few thousand to get someone there and back ;) )

Overall our customers are pretty good. Government agencies like schools and the like are some of the better customers, and we have minesites galore here, who often need large copiers, and lots of them. Most of them are good to work around and with, so i really enjoy my work.

As for the hiring, heh, we are. I'm the only full time tech with this company at the moment. Do you like the heat ? Averages around 40C here all year, but humidity can get to around 80%, so it feels more like 60C.

Do you guys really drink Foster's down there or is it just a bunch of marketing bullshit here in the states?

wagon
01-10-2007, 03:17 AM
Fosters? No, there is plenty of choice here - XXXX, Cascade, Hahn, VB (yuk), Boags, etc. etc. It would be years since I had Fosters. Marketing BS I suspect.

Fosters ? Ha. Thats one of the worst beers around. Which is why we sell it to you guys overseas :D

We have plenty of beer that is better, in some places there are even shops that sell only that. I've homebrewed beer that tasted better than Fosters. heh.

We also make a few good rums and other spririts, too. If you like dark rum, chase down yourself a bottle of Bundaberg Rum. mmm.

When I was doing my electrical license course the teacher said 'Never drink coca cola by itself - it is bad for you - you must mix rum or bourbon with it to make it safe to drink'. Good advice. Mmm beer.

Don't come to Toowoomba! We have been having weirdo weather lately - rainy overnight, cold(ish) and foggy in the morning (early) and then 30degrees (celcius) during the day. All in the middle of 'summer'. Go figure. Climate change anyone?

Project Warder
01-11-2007, 04:39 AM
Haha, i love how this close to the equator we get all of our rain in the summer. Doesn't make sense to me. Nothing but heat all year, then some time in summer we get blasted with wind and rains from cyclones. Although i think we arent even getting that this year. Joy. They predicted one only for this season and we got it ... kinda. Didnt last more than a day or two off the coast and did bugger all. haha.

Dusterman, want somewhere nice and sunny ? Come here. hahaha. I use a Google Maps screenshot as my desktop sometimes, its that beautiful here. Only problem is heat and flies, but you get used to it.
