Hi There

SC997 you need to install more memory or just make sure you have
Installed it correctly.

From memory, as part of the installation you would have to initialise the print controller and the USB for correct operation.

Hi i have 1.5 gb of memory which i think is enough and i have also checked and its fitted correctly, i also initialised the NIC and USB under device settings in SP Mode.

What has actually cleared the SC997 is downgrading the printer firmware from version 1.09 to 1.07........

But then again after doing these the printer works ok, scanner loads ok but when you try to scan it hangs and the system has a service now ihave no clue whats goin on??

I would format the hdd. Even if it doesnt fix the problem it wont hurt.

Try updating the firmware for everything to the latest. I have had the 997 thing happen before I always just update everything vs downgrading one part.

Had a Similar issue. Printer Firmware Was Corrupted. Could select Printer Button, and it would just beep.

I've had this recently,it was cured by updating ALL the machine firmware.According to Ricoh Tech Support this model is very fussy about what levels of firmware are installed and recommend updating the firmware as a set.

Happy fixing, Mark.

To Me, it sounds like that too, all firmware as a set, Yep agree good idea.

Finally!!!!!! :D:Dit worked din't have to upgrade the firmware though, a friend had a similar problem and what sorted it out was to Downgrade the Printer Firmware from version 1.09 to 1.07, and the Scanner firmware from 1.07 to version 1.06. Everything is working perfectly now! Thanks folks for your contribution.

Regards:D

very odd having to downgrade. Perhaps some of your other firmware was already lower versions?

I had a similar issue where I tried updating the firmware in hopes they fixed the weak black density problems (they didn't) and lost the scanner. Ricoh released a new firmware set, but didn't update all the modules on FSD / DSD - Scanner firmware was required to be updated, but my laptop didn't have the right version. It was correct on the TSRC website, so after we went nuts figuring out what was wrong we were able to fix it. A little note, there is a bulletin about updating to the latest version - you also have to update the Fiery (if equipped) to System Ver 1.1 which AFAIK still hasn't been released.

There have also been issues with Fiery and getting all the finishing options working on the C900. I've heard rumors of fights involving large crowds of lawyers, and Ricoh having purchased annother RIP solution
