1st suggestion:

Is it original Toner? I was told that there also may be problems if you try to install another NRG branded toner (like Ricoh) instead of Nashua even if it's basicly the same material - dunno if that hint counts for this machine as well.

2nd suggestion:

This is a hint from the MPC2500-4500 era, I'm quite shure that this is still valid for the recent MPC generation:

Has anyone tried to install a PCU from the SPC printer? That's basicly no problem IF you keep the original DV sensors from the machine. Keeping the SPC sensors and disabling the "new unit detection" may work for a little while but you'll definetly get trouble like this.

3rd suggestion:

What happen if you perform an engine reset? - don't forget to backup your NV ram data first via SD card.

Go to sp mode 3250-00 there are have (toner end detection) put on/off . I think is 3250-00 check this

Make sure firmware is up to date.

In an extreme case, you may need to perform an engine clear to correct this. As prescribed by the Ricoh Hotline. The NVRAM does not increment a counter on the RFID board or vice versa. Make sure you have all SMC reports printed before you do any memory clear. Lots of settings get blown away. You will also have to probably do a forced line positioning (rough then fine) and a factory ACC setting restore to get your copy quality back afterward.

You can turn off the toner end sensor, however that may cause other complications down the road, and I wouldn't leave that as a permanent fix.

The problem might be a host of things such as:
1.Toner End Sensor(s) mounted between the toner bottle and attraction pump not seeing toner1. .
2. Clogged or defective Toner Supply mechanism
3. Abnormal readings from either of the TD sensors
4. Faulty NVRAM data

To determine where the problem may be occurring you can check the following readings;
1. Check SP3044-001 (Toner Supply Mode) and check that it is set at 3 (default) if set at 1 or 2:
If set at 1 this indicates a problem with the TD Sensor check SP7403-001 (SC History) to determine where fault may lie.
If set at 2 this indicate a problem with the ID Sensor check SP7403-001 (SC History) to determine where fault may lie.
If set at 3 proceed to next step
2. Check the Toner End Sensor with SP5803 - 035 (K) / 036(M) / 037(C) /0 38(Y) should read 0 with toner present and 1 with no toner
present
If SP for affected color reads 1 and no toner is present at the Toner End Sensor
Check that affected the Toner Bottle Clutch engages by watching the rotation of the Toner Bottle
If the Bottle Rotates check that the gearing and shutter open properly
If SP for affected color reads 1 and toner is present
Check and/or replace the Toner End Sensor
If SP for the affected color reads 0 and no toner is present
check and/or replace the Toner End Sensor
3. TD sensor check for VT Display in SP3201 numbers 001(B), 002(M), 003(C), 004(Y ).
These values should be compared against VTREF Display SP3222 001(B), 002(M), 003(C), 004(Y ).
Normally VT display should be slightly below (.1 to .2) then the VTREF value, the more VT is above VTREF the less toner is being
seen in the developer unit, when VT is .5 above VTREF a Toner End Condition is indicated if Toner Near End has been detected
first.
If VT display is high open and close the front door to perform Toner End Recovery or try a forced toner feed SP3015 to add toner
and lower VT.
If VT remains high check the Toner Attraction Pump and/or the supply tube (may be clogged or crimped) .
4. If VT is below VTREF, the Toner End Sensor has toner and reads 0 in step 2, the Toner Cartridge has been changed, and the front
door has been opened and closed or the machine cycled off and on, then there may be problem with the NVRAM try:
Holding down the "./*" and # pound key for ten seconds to perform a soft reboot of the machine
If the condition still persists perform SP5801-002 (Engine Memory clear)
Toner Near End
The controller considers the following information to determine the toner near end status:
Operation time counter of the toner attraction pump
Pixel counter
These values are both stored in the memory chip on the toner cartridge, and copied from the memory chip to the NVRAM on the BCU.
If either value indicates that the amount of remaining toner is 50g or less, the machine enters the near-end condition.

Toner End
To determine the toner end status, the machine uses the TD sensor in the development unit. The machine must first be in a toner
near-end condition, or toner end cannot be detected. Toner end is detected if both the following conditions occur:
VT – VTREF greater than or equal to "0.5"
SUM (VT – VTREF) greater than or equal to "10"
The machine cannot print until the toner cartridge is replaced after it detects toner end for black. The machine can print in black and white
only if cyan, magenta, or yellow are in a toner end condition during standby mode. At this time the machine cannot do color print jobs. If
the yellow, cyan, or magenta toner ends during a color-printing job, the job is suspended until toner is supplied. If new color toner is not
installed, the user can print black-and-white jobs only.

Toner End Recovery
The machine assumes that the toner cartridge has been replaced if either of the following
occurs when the near-end or end status exists:
The front door is opened and closed.
The main switch is turned off and on.
Then the machine starts to supply toner to the development unit. After supplying toner, the machine clears the toner near-end or end
status if the following condition is detected: Toner end sensor detects that toner is supplied. The machine tries to supply toner for a
maximum of 5 times

TONER SUPPLY
This machine uses four toner bottles. Each bottle has a spiral groove in it and its groove moves toner to the toner attraction pump. And the
toner attraction pump transports the toner to the development unit. The toner end sensor is attached to the toner supply tube. The toner
end sensor and the output from the process control define when the machine detects toner end.

This is a lot to crunch down but it might lead you to the right direction to solve your problem.

good luck
