    C5500 VS. C6500

oK. I have a c6500 Biz Hub with Creo. Love it! However, someone is giving me a great deal on a C5500 Biz hub with Creo. I know it came after the C6500- but what are the major differences? I know that the drum life is less and it is a bit slower, but is the quality the same?

If I ran same 2 jobs on both machines, can I basically get the same results?

    Any help would be great!

There are no real differences between the two aside from speed and perhaps some internal changes that are more tech than anything else.

Wherever you heard about drum life? Give them a slap. All consumables are identical based on PM cycles.

Quality is the same. Of course, this depends on the overall life of the machine itself and the point where the PM cycles are at. And not to mention, some machines have attitude. Not all are exactly alike.

Stirton.M is correct. I work on both. The PM parts will last just as long. In fact I perform the PM's on my C5500's, based on the C6500 PM cycle. The only reason that I can see for the difference in the cycles, is because of the slower speed, the parts are in use longer for the same amount of copies. Either that or to make more money!

The speed of the 5500 and 6500 is the same. The gap between sheets is wider so less sheets can go thru per min thus slower. The drum life in the consumables is less as the rotation of the drum is identical but can achieve less prints do to lower sheet count. You will notice the drum life on a 5500 is about 150000 this is based on sheet count NOT distance. The distance life for each is identical.

Ok. Thanks. So basically the same. Any reason why Konica would come out with the C5500 after the C6500, if there are no real differences except for the slight changes mentioned already?

              ker-chingggg !!! $$$$$

C5500 is slower and cheaper than C6500 and more of an entry level box.
C6500 is a faster machine with more optional online finishing and paper input capacity which is a bit more expensivo.

But isn't there a smaller selection of finishing options for the C5500?
