We've obtained 14 bizhub C10P units from a company that has gone into liquidation. Every one of these have been passworded by the previous companies IT staff and they are obviously unavailable to request the information that we need to unlock them.

1. Can the C10P password be reset by updating the firmware and does anyone know where the firmware can be obtained from?

2. Can the unit be reset by a combination of the front panel keys?

3. Is there a reset jumper or point internally that can be used?

4. Unfortunately the default passwords from the service manual have been changed and do not work (BHC10P / SYSADMIN)

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions in resolving this problem.

Regards
Tony

The default administrator password is MagiMFP and it is case-sensitive. have you used this one to try to get access to the functions, otherwise you could enter Tech mode and do memory clear, (make a printout of setting reports before you do.)

Thanks for the suggestion, I've tried MagiMFP which unfortunately doesn't appear to work.

When the printer is ready and warmed up, if you press the down key or the menu key you are immediately prompted for 'ENTER PASSWORD'

We're certainly not worried about any of the settings in memory and would be quite happy to clear the memory if we can enter the tech mode, is that a combination of buttons pressed whilst turning the printer on?

I don't know if it makes a difference with the password you mentioned, but as this is a C10P, it's only a colour laser printer, the C10 is the all-in-one?

Thanks again.

It sounds like someone has set up authentication/account track.

Try going into service mode and see if it has been activated.
This option is ONLY available with the optional hard drive. that will be an indicator as well.
try removing the hard drive (?)

You should be able to d=go into service mode even with authentication set up.

Uh oh.

I think I may have gone too far trying to reset this first one of fourteen printers.

I held the Menu/Select and Down button on startup and it asked me about wiping settings, which I thought would clear the passwords.

Unfortunately the final message in this wipe was 'Printer Update Send Data Now'

I thought I ought to stop at that point but restarting the printer now gives me TFFS0 ERROR02 and TFFS1 ERROR02 on the control panel, I think I may have accidently wiped the firmware?

I can still by combination of the buttons get to the 'Printer Update Send Data Now' option, but I obviously need the info to send to the printer, help!

call a konica certified tech for service!

I've spoken to Konica Minolta directly and had two very helpful conversations with staff who assured me that I'd be able to obtain the firmware update from the technical line 0906 890 0132.

I called the line, only twice, spoke to 'Trevor' who after 8-10 seconds of me explaining the problem (twice) simply puts the phone down.

How rude.

I called the 'helpful' staff back and explained what happened and they've taken my details and said someone will call me back, but I'm not holding my breath based on the response from the support guy.

So if anyone can perhaps provide a C10P firmware and the upload tool, I'd be extremely grateful?

Still struggling with this.

Thanks for those files Albonline, I still need to find out if they're the right ones though as they seem to be for the C10 not the C10P which is a completely different unit.

Also, when using the update software, does that run through the USB or Parallel port?

Thank you again for your continued help

thereis only 1 file offered for ALL c10s. use usb cable and download and install printer/scanner driver. have dcompressed file open and ready to run, start printer in bios update mode . run bios file on pc. good luck.

I've uncompressed the files, placed the printer in BIOS mode (assuming to press Menu Select and Down when turning on printer)

I don't seem to be able to install the printer connected to the USB port because of the errors on the control panel TFFS0 and TFFS1

Obviously not having the printer driver installed may be the stopping point, I guess I can't run the firmware update to this one printer without being able to install it first.

I do know the NIC address which I found with Wireshark, perhaps I could send the firmware via that.

Clutching at straws obviously before I move onto another one and bin the first of fourteen as a failure :)

according to what ive read on this the scanner driver is what xfers the file, thruogh the usb port.there is a file that goes through the nic but that is for updating the kn card only.

1. Connect the machine and PC using the USB cable.

2. Turn ON the machine's main switch pressing Menu Select key.

3. Confirm that [*BIOS MODE*] appears on the screen.

4. Copy the firmware data and upgrading program in any arbitrary directory of the PC.

5. Double-click “Update.exe”.

6. Click [Browse] and select File path, “bizhubC10VXXXFaxF01p.bin”.

7. Click [Update].

I'm still progressing with this, although slowly.

I'm still working on the first printer of fourteen as I want to keep the fallout to a minimum of unworkable printers!

The 'update' firmware which tries to talk to the printer on the USB port always reports the printer as not ready.

I've tried the 'COPY /B XXXXX.BIN LPT1:' firmware update routine from the service manual (pressing the UP+MENU button first and selecting 'Update Printer') which receives the BIN files but none of them appear correct for this method (the manual says that the update pushed via this method will be a .SYS file)

The MFC firmware update that uses the IP address DOES work (although I had to progress onto a second printer), most frustratingly though, once the update completes, the password request is still there and none of the default entries work, so the firmware doesn't appear to clear the password.

I'd like to try sending the relevant file via the LPT1 port in case there's any difference there relating to the password, but those .SYS files I do not have.

If anyone knows of any other way to clear the password, I'd be happy to know!

Hi All

Thought id post a fix on here that we have come across for the c10p's

Had a couple of these machines come back, one with corrupt FW and one with a Password.

I applied the Bootcode and the Firmware to the machines (the augusta3.sys file) but this just upgrades/renews the FW and leaves the password in-tact.

I then had a scroll through the service manual and the default password set for this security mode is [SYSADMIN] (no brackets)

This password allowed me entry on one of the C10's but not the other

The one piece of information I did know about the other machine is the IP address (if you dont now this use angryipscanner.exe)

When you pagescope to the c10 put this in your webbrowser http:// [IP ADDRESS] /security_page.html This will display the Password page.
Explorer and Firefox will show the password field asterixed, and wont allow you to do anything with it. (no submit/apply button)

Open this page with Opera (web browser) clear the password and simply press enter and Opera will apply the change and remove the password.

Hope this helps someone else!
