I have a KM-C4035E that choked on a bad CF card (I guess) during a firmware update. This was a printer firmware update. Now it won't read any CF card to reflash the firmware. I used to know of a procedure for these model machines that will force the machine to download firmware from the CF card. Unfortunately, I lost my notes on this. We're probably going to have to bust out the DIMM writer and hope for the best tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone knew the procedure I'm talking about. Come on, blackcat, I know you know something...

Thanks for any help.

Hmmmmmm....

If you can write a new DIMM more power to you. The printer & main boot are in the same batch of firmware, so either one could be corrupt. The printer DIMM is 302JD94080. The Main (IPU) DIMM is 302JD93060. If it were me, I would order both DIMMs. Then install the Main DIMM first, than try to flash. If it fails I would re-install the original Main, and install the printer DIMM, and try to flash again. =^..^=

Yeah, I'm thinking it might be the printer DIMM itself that's bad. I tried rewriting it and while everything checked out fine according to the writer, the rewritten DIMM changed nothing. Copying is fine, by the way. It's just the print system that hangs at Self Test and then errors out with a C-0240. I'll have to try ordering some DIMMs, I guess. Thanks, bro...

The only thing to watch here is don't change bothe DIMMS at the same time. Both DIMMs hold the machines serial number data. If one has the serial number and the other doesn't it's corrected. If both don't have a serial number it will error out. =^..^=

I had a C3232e a while back that acted like this. After much time and effort and forced firmware old and new, out of the blue I disconnected the ADF and it booted without error. Turned out to be a defective ADF cable???

My Bad, Though the code sounded familiar I remember now that the machine had a constant "please Wait" from the copy screen

Update:
New print system firmware DIMM fixed the issue.

From general bulletin #49 7/1/03:

insert cf card with power off

turn on power and enter printer screen

press start and stop/clear keys for approximately five seconds, firmware should reload

This may not work in the case of C0240, I have used it for F010 code on printer screen of print system N
