Minolta Di3510 - FN-117 stapler problem

Have a Di3510 with a FN-117 finisher on it. The stapler keeps asking for staples, have loaded staples and it still does not see that it is loaded with staples. What do I check for on this? The stapler seems to cycle? Did not know what goes bad on these, stapler or cable.

I've never seen these staple heads go bad. But what I have seen is the wrong staples put in the cart or not in properly. If they are not in properly then they won't feed and the machine will think it is empty.

The cartridge has a lever to detect the staples. Part of it could be broke. Pull one from another machine, I bet it will work. if it does, then compare the two to find what is stuck.
