what does your web browser have to do with your canon scanner?

first try plugging it into another computer to make sure that it is not your canon that is on the fritz. if it works on another computer then

try going to the device manager (should be in the control panel where you found that add hardware option on your computer) and uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers if you can.

if that does not work, uninstall everything completely and then reinstall. then plug in the canon.
