    C6500 Print Controller

Hi guys (and gals if any),

I've posted a wanted posted in the appropriate forum, but I have a question I hope someone will be able to answer regarding one of the fiery's available for this machine.

I beleive the IC-303 (external tower also labeled Fiery S450) is the same or comparable as a Fiery which is used on some Canon models.

Therefore, my question is this - is it possible to turn a Fiery originally made for a Canon (or any other brand) to work on the C6500? Has anyone tried this with any Fiery's?

I know the Fiery S350 (Blue Tower) was used on the Konica Minolta C500, the Konica 8050, the Minolta CF5001 and also on the Ikon version of that same box.

Unfortunately, I also know these Fiery print controllers are highly proprietary in the way they are built (bios etc).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - and anyone with one of these for sale, please contact me.

I Wouldn't think it, the interface card (also known as the video card....ie. the really expensive bit) are probably only compatible with the manufacturer of the engine.
    Laughing......

The interface card is propritory to brand and in some cases model.
The system software is not the same.
I can't make a minolta fiery work with a konica even though they are the same machine.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Horse and nmfaxman are right in the fact that there are parts of the Fiery that will only work with the given model it was built for. You are also right in the fact that the BIOS is different for each manufacturer as well.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
