Look at the ad at the top of the screen. Clicking it and buying from them will help support the forum.

Buy a Reset Tool or have your own chips reset.

Could you please tell me the Firmware version you are reffering to? The latest firmware I see is GFU_R6 released June 28,2010 and ther is no indication that it has anything to do with turning off IU Life Indicators?

It came out on 7/2, look at bulletin 7528. The oil can warning will come up but the machine will no longer stop because of the IU's.

Ok yes I am aware of that. I thought he was suggesting that the warning could be turned off all together. So we're back to the dealers who are willing to leave there customers with a nag message and those who are not. Customer satisfaction is all about perception and those customers left with a nag message and told to ignore it by the service tech will perceive that there is a problem the tech isn't willing to fix.

We have IU enhance enabled as per KM Japan's wishes.

Whenever I set these, I inform the customer of what is going on and the reasons why. Most are understanding. I simply tell them that if image quality is an issue, to give us a call to replace them. For the most part, I have yet to have any issues on this with our customers. In many cases, we set the machine to notify them via email for consumable end of life, they can then call us when that notice comes up. V-Care covers the severe issues related to c-codes

You don't need to change the firmware to prevent the machine from stopping due to IU end of life:

Enter service mode, press "STOP" "0" "C", press "IU Life Stop Setting" and choose "No Stop".

We always at least change the chip to clear the message, or change the unit if CQ requires it.
Most customers who ask why we are fitting a chip instead of a new unit are all in favour of giving a new lease of life to an IU instead of the "Green" impact of binning a perfectly good unit.
