I have just delivered and setup a bizhub 420 to a small office running office 7 machines with a linksis wireless router, no server. This is what their It guy just sent me,

Here is what is happening.

HP Netbook with Windows 7 32bit. Can connect to the bizhub 420, however it loses communication to the printer. To reestablish contact you need to right click on the printer icon and then select printer properties. A window will open, you press ok on it and then another window will open and say something about it will take 10 seconds or more to establish communication with the printer. You click ok on that window and then a temp window opens showing it is making a connection to the printer. Once that window finishes, then the printer properties page will open and you can print a test page and print from any program. I did not watch for how long it will stay connected, but after awhile it will lose the communication that was established to the printer and you would need to follow the same process to reestablish communication.

On the laptop with Windows 7 64bit, I got it to print a test page 2 times when installing the driver. However, it immediately looses communication connections to the printer, and then trying to establish communication again using the procedure listed above with Windows7 32bit will not get the communication reestablished. Uninstalling the drivers and then installing them new again seems to be also hit or miss on if communication can be established.

Based on the experiences above I think its an issue with the driver and communicating over the wireless network. Wireless in itself has packet loss, and no doubt windows 7 sends a lot more data when it transmits. Its also possible it could be their outdated wireless equipment based on your comments to me regarding said equipment. However, as the HP lazer jet printer they have there seems to work with no issues at all, I have to go back and say it’s the driver for the copier. Or it could be the copier itself when there is data packet lost and it cannot fill in the blanks…not sure though.

Any sugestions?

Do not know if this is the issue but I found this:

A vulnerability was corrected in early firmware where excessive SMB traffic can cause the NIC to drop off.

Please use the following firmware version or higher to correct this issue.
IC-611 (bizhub PRO 1050)
Ver.30-COC0
IC-203 (bizhub PRO 920)
Ver.20-COC0
IC-202 (bizhub 600/bizhub 750)
Ver. 30-CH
bizhub 360/420/500
Version 30
bizhub C450/C351/C250/C252/C352/C300
(Phase3.03/Ver.I8)

Sounds like your using the universal driver... try a different (none) universal driver, either 32bit xp or vista, pcl preferably... should help I would think. I havent run into any issue with that series with win 7 as a printer.

Regards!
A.

1. Assured that IC-204 installed in your bizhub 420.
2. Try to ping from your PC to bizhub 420.
3. You can download Printer Driver for win 7 from KM official site. Don't use the WHQL Windows driver, in a case can not support for some features.

Out of curiosity, is the location of this wireless network within range of other wireless networks from other offices nearby? I have had some instances where radio interferance was enough to cause connection issues. In my case, this helped. It might be a similar situation to yours.
