ERROR 55-HP IIIsi

Hi, I have a customer with a hp laserjet 3si, comes up error 55. It is an internal communications error. I reseated all connectors, from what I gather next thing is to start replacing pcboards. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks All...

I'm afraid so, it's definitely an electronic problem. Start with the JetDirect card (assuming it's networked), that's the easiest and quickest, then move back to the formatter, it's the most likely curprit.

• Defective DC power supply
• Defective paper input PCA board
• Defective main motor

The printer's a workhorse, but if you're getting into electronic problems with it, it's in your client's best interest to talk trade-in or outright replacement.
