we have a pana 8045 in the field that when you turn it on the only response you get is a blank screen with the backlight on and the print data light on green. the fuser lamp comes on and the fan kicks in but nothing else can anyone help.

The hard drives on these machines cause all kinds of problems. Remove the back cover and disconnect the hard drive. You may also try powering up directly into service mode. If machine is cycling up, you may simply have a bad LCD screen.

i've popped out and had a look at this machine for "marra". there is no HDD installed, powering into service mode dont work either,

the backround light is on, but no display, also the data light is on (no flashing)
all voltages are correct from DC PSU, DRV, SC & PNL1
it looks to me as if the machine aint got a clue what it is,
looks like a SC board fault.

Yep. Sounds like an SC all the way. I have scene at least 2 that do odd things to the screen; even with proper voltages.

Had an 8035 do exactly the same, turned out to be the PNL pcb(under the op panel), Also mine could print and copy but you could not select duplex, sort, etc.

You may also want to try the Master Firmware recovery procedure. If you cannot go direct into service mode, the boot Room is corrupted. The firmware will need to be flashed.

Check to see if the ENERGY SAVER key is stuck. Had this happen and the machine when turned on was looking for the Emergency Firmware Recovery sequence.

I'm going agree with sostek, I've heard of this once before, wasn't my call but, we replaced the pnl board, and it worked.
