I need to move the creo from dead c500 to another one, they are a little bit different configuration, si there a way to set up creo, because for example on the new one there is no extra tray, but there is a finisher and it's never been used with the creo before. will appreciate any help.

Just connect the Creo and then go into IC301 Preferences and select the type of Finisher.

it sounds as if the cable or the vid board on the copier. did the creo work on the other c500?, are these both konica brand units?

it worked fine on the old one, the new one is ikon c500.

It may be that difference alone, Ikon and KM do share many similarities in firmware and electronics, but there are some subtle differences that are not always readily apparent.

But it should work anyway, creo is desined to work with a lot of machines, including ikon

No, that is not what I mean.

The Ikon and the KM C500s may look similar in many ways, but the firmware and some hardware is proprietary to each machine. In other words, they are not the same machines in spite of sharing some similar hardware. There is also a strong possibility that the VIF itself may be incompatible based on firmware.

I checked it's compatible for the creo

The machine firmware is different between the KM and IKON versions, as well as the Creo software itself. Not by much, but different.

Last I knew they were not interchangeable.

I could care less about the Creo, that is not the focus...but on a tangent....I looked this up...

[PrintOwners] Creo Rip (IC-301) for Konica-Minolta Bizhub PRO C500 (http://rb.enter.net/pipermail/printowners/Week-of-Mon-20051010/000073.html)

Which seems to indicate there are differences even with the Creo itself.

But that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about the main body of the machine. Just because the Ikon looks like a KM, does not mean they are the same machine. There are HUGE differences between an Ikon C650 and a KM C6500, despite the fact that they physically look the same on the outside.

The same analogy would be that just because Dodge trucks look like Ford trucks, they have 4 wheels, steering wheel, engine, transmission and so on, does not mean you can interchange the motors without a lot of issues.

they are the same for sure, I keep changing parts from one to another, didn't find anything different whatsoever, even firmware is the same, and it's saying powered by konica, lol

If memory serves the cic card in the creo is differnt from ikons to konicas version of creo. same thing with the ip 901 and ip921. have not seen the ikon version of the ic405 or ic302.

If that were so, then you would not be having so much difficulty combining the hardware.
