I’m trying to install a Minolta Di251 to scan on a network, but it keeps asking for a Scanner box number and a password, ip address and scanner name.
I have installed the twain driver. (KONICA MINOLTA SU-2/SU-3 TWAIN) driver
But I do not know where to get a box number? Please help.

For scan to box the machine needs a harddrive.

All of our machines use Scan to FTP instead.

You might preferably use "Quick'n Easy Lite FTP server" instead of the described PageScope Light:

Quick 'n Easy FTP Server (http://www.pablosoftwaresolutions.com/html/quick__n_easy_ftp_server.html)

Here's an instruction how to do:

REQUIREMENTS
1. A working knowledge of Windows, Windows printing and basic networking is essential.
2. The Pi3502 should be installed and functioning properly.
3. The Pi3502 is connected to a local area network and the controller is accessible from PageScope Light, using TCP/IP.
4. Confirm that the PostScript / Scan and the additional 128MB one-sided memory are installed.
5. From the copier's service mode ensure the copier memory is 64MB and the Flash ROM versions are current.
6. The Pi3502 should have the latest firmware versions including patches.
7. An FTP site must be available for FTP scanning. For the purpose of this paper we will use the FTP services in PageScope Cabinet. Note that Windows NT 4.0 Server and Windows 2000 Server have built in FTP services. If PageScope cabinet's FTP service is used, Windows (Win2k and 4.0 Server) FTP service must be stopped.

SCAN TO FTP

PageScope Cabinet FTP Setup or FTP Utility Setup or Quick 'n Easy Lite

1. Using Windows Explorer, create a folder for the FTP Root Folder. Folders can be named anything you want
and be on any drive. We have called ours "ftp". Example: "c:\ftp".
2. Create a folder under the ftp folder. We have called ours "default1". This is the folder that will receive the
scanned documents. Our example folder structure now looks like this: "c:\ftp\default1".
3. Install PageScope Cabinet version 1.5 or later or install the new FTP-Utility from Minolta
4. Launch PageScope Cabinet or the FTP utility.
5. In PageScope Cabinet go to Tool->Setup or Settings in the FTP utility. Under Location setting for the folders click the drop down. Select
FTP Root Folder. Go to Location->Browse. Select the FTP Root folder you setup in step 2. Example "c:\ftp"
6. Select OK
7. Go to Tools->Ftp.
8. Make sure Launch FTP is checked.
9. Set the FTP Control Port to 21.
10. Confirm the FTP Data Transfer Port setting. It should be 1098.
11. For FTP user enter "anonymous" Note: PageScope Cabinet only allows one user to be entered. Other FTP
servers allow multiple users with more stringent security. We have used the traditional "anonymous" user.
12. Make sure the FTP Password is left blank. Note: We have left the password blank since an "anonymous"
user traditionally has no password.
13. Note: PageScope Cabinet must be running for the FTP server to be running.

PageScope Light Setup:
1. Start PageScope Light
2. Enter the Admin Password (default is "sysadm") then click Log-In. You will be asked if you want to lock the front panel of the Di-351. You must selct YES.
3. Click the Scanner tab at the top center of the page.
4. From the One Touch Destination List click on one of the undefined destinations.
5. The One Touch Registration screen appears.
6. Under select Type pull down the list and select File
7. Click on Apply/Next
8. Under Destination Name enter a descriptive name. Note this name, including case; it will be used again. This will become the label of the One Touch Button in the copier display later.
9. Under Site Name enter a descriptive name for an FTP site. This could be anything.
10. Under Ftp Server Address enter the IP address of the computer that is running the FTP server program server.
11. Under Directory enter the folder you entered under the FTP root directory. This is where the scanned images will be sent. Example: default1 NOTE: The case of the folder entered here must match the
case used when you created the folder.
12. Make sure Use Proxy is not checked.
13. Make sure Port Number" is set to 21.
14. If you entered anonymous before as your user name select the Anonymous box. Otherwise enter the
name and password entered before.
15. Under Scanning Mode select the desired file format and compression.
16. Click on the Apply button.
17. Select Log-out
18. You are finished with FTP setup from PageScope Light.

Using Scan to FTP:
1. Ensure the FTP server is running.
2. To scan to FTP insert the document into the ADF.
3. Press the Scan button.
4. Select the One Touch button then Select the One Touch button you just setup.
5. Press the Start button.
6. The document is scanned. If you used our sample folder setup, the scanned document can be found in the c:\ftp\default1 folder

If you are using Windows, I also have a document floating around the forum with details and screen shots on how to setup Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) with the FTP service. This is a native Microsoft FTP server which works extremely well and doesn't even reuqire the PC to be logged on.

Once that is installed and setup, you just set the machine to Scan to FTP and put the IP address of the computer and the folder then becomes a /

I’m using a account program to scan my documents in. The program automatic takes the image from the machine via the twain driver. Then changes its name and stores it. If the images are on the ftp the names have to be changed manually.
The other Konica’s I am using works fine, but this Di251 twain driver is complicated. Is there is no way to skip the box problem?

The box problem is UNRELATED to twain scanning. You can ONLY twain scan with this model via parallel cable, and not NETWORK. You're trying to set up network scan as lengthily explained above how to do that.
