The copier was giving dark copies and a tech replaced the drum and developer. This tech could not produce a clean copy and said the copier was trash. A 2nd tech, who was subsequently fired, made "some adjustments" (I don't know what they were), the copies were good for a while (a few hundred copies) and then got progressively lighter. Now the copies are much too light with little contrast.

Here is what I have adjusted:

1. Toner Concentration Threshold is set for the darkest setting 5-1 0 and 5-0 1

2. Laser PWM is set for darkest setting: 5-3 0 and 5-2 0

3. Toner Density: 23-3 0 and 23-2 1

4. Contrast is set for 0 (out of 0 - 5) (darkest) for text and photos under Special Original screen

5. Auto maximum density adjustment has been run.

There is no change when I adjust the darkness on the main screen

It seems that the copier is running out of toner, but the toner is full and there is no signal to add toner.

Any suggestions?

When you insert the developer unit, there is a bias tab/pin towards the back of the drum unit. Make sure it is not bent or deformed.

What does the LD1 and 2 set up prints look like? Are all the gears on the dev tank ok? The little ones can wear and then the unit does not turn. Have the drum and dev counters been cleared when they were replaced? Was the drum peculiarity set up done?
