Any analog made by sharp. They were my daily nightmares. I seen them more than I seen my wife.

Anything with the designation 2020 Konica or sharp.

Mita had a 2020 also, the Ai-2020 was a 2nd generation digital machine that was OK at best. The print system, on the other hand, was a tremendous pile of crap.

I guess anything with the number 2020 on it will somehow suck.

All the mita 3 digit boxes were a pain but the worst ever was the Mita 513

While technically not a copier, ANY MODEL of a Gestetner digital duplicator is garbage. I worked on those pigs for years and I\'m happy to see them almost gone. All that\'s left are a few non-contract holdouts that I\'m happy to bill when necessary.

The peice of crap Copystar 3010 that kicked my ass all day today. I jerked around with a CQ issue for 2 and a half hours before I realized that my main charger corona was a arching. it\'s always the easy stuff that throws us off.

2020\'s you forgot the biggest piece of crap the Xerox 2020. It was a used barely reconditioned ancient 3100 revamped into a large format reduction machine that had 12 mirrors. and a 500 pound reduction head that moved to one side so the operators could make regular copies. The big red X sold them as new for $12000 plus. From that day on any machine with the numbers 2020 have been doomed.

No Shit, they SUCKED BIG ASS. the F'd up part was the the DC-6090 was a pretty good machine and then they screwed things up bigtime when they updated the machine. We had a ton of them in churches and schools and the developer would die after about a month, the things would overtone a puke. remember he filter they installed so the machine wouldn't leave a giant toner mark on the wall behind the machine.

What was worse, the shitty developing issues or the fuser of doom?

PS. DQYDJ is right. anything starting with a 40 from mita was shit! (except for the new stuff).

The biggestg POS was the Ricoh 6000 & 7000 series, the inverter would warp if you breathed on it the wrong way infact the whole fuser unit was crap.

I've got to agree with 1087 on the mita 8090\8095. they ran dirty and were a pain in the ass
to PM not to mention the sk1 stacker and the 5150 sorter. I got really good at the timing
for the press bar and replacing bins. (not by choice though)

Well how about a second place award to the Mita Ai-3030. The digital copier that was broken before you installed it.

The machine came in three parts, the scanner, the print engine and the scanner rack. There was no simple plug-in the the scanner, you had to remove the top of the print engine and connect a bunch of wires from the scanner. to make matters worse, the cables we about two feet too short and the stupid scanner rack didn't have wheels so it was just about impossible to get the machine where you wanted it.

The machine sold itself (actually it unsold itself) when you brought it in on a demo and they saw a technician wrestling with it for 45 minutes just to get the power on.

Don't even get me going about the print system or changing the dozen or so eproms the machine had.

Did I mention that the top cover I referred to had about 18 screws holding it on.

Minolta 3050/4050 when they first came out. After 50 different mods. the machines were not to bad.

I agree with 1087 about the 8090/2280 being a BIG pos but does anyone recall working on older analog panasonics, i.e., FP series? 1530,3007,3030,5060? They ran dirty and had an infinite amount of cold solder connections?

could you explain why the 7222 is a piece?
i work on the whole line (7020 thru the 7235) the earlier boxes are a pain but the later boxes perform very well.

7222... Paper jams (lots), junk fuser units, etc. etc. (maybe I was spoilt because I came from the Minolta side of the fence prior to the 'merger'.).

CMB

thats strange. some of the earlier models like the 7020 and 7030 we had some issues with the toner recycler units clogging up. we then would have to go in and take everything apart and vacume out all the old toner and developer and start over with fresh. that was a pain. but we figured out if you set the auto shut-off to about 1 hour the fuser won't cook the toner in the unit and you will have less of these types of service calls.

the later models of these copiers they have improved the design of the toner recycling mechanism and i have not had any of these problems. as long as the rom versions are the latest you shouldn't have any problems with these models. i have several dozen in the field with half a million copies on each that run pm to pm with very little problem. i would say that the biggest problem i have with these would be the ADF heighth adjustment-which is a less than 5 minute service call.

I have works on sharps of all sizes , toshibas, canons, now ricohs, even one or 2 xerox (which i hate cause i cant get any manulas and they are hard to take apart) But hands down the 2035 with the the bad registration and weak motor was nasty. And oh yes the clamshell design by anyone suckd

Basically a sped up 1590 that threw developer down into the gear causing them to grind up. Had to tear it down almost to frame to repair. Used to carry 2 sets of gears. The fix was a piece of foam tape between toner unit and developer unit- but the copier was still an underbuilt piece of crap.

 With my limited experience, I must agree with copi 40. The Toshiba 1550 was my nightmare. I worked for a reseller who put these POS machines ON CONTRACT !!!! It was awful. The business was sold and the
new owner did not renew any of these 1550 contracts. I was grateful.:p

Definitely Mita Analogs and first generation digitals like AI3030.
Toner dusting nightmares, but we stuck around long enough to see the new KM digitals. Now they are the Best.

i have to disagree with whoever posted that "all" sharp analogs were the worse, of course there are a few bad sharp models that come to mind, 8600/9300, 2020. but one of the best analogs ever made was by sharp the sf-8100. and another great analog was the mita 152z. as far as olivetti being bad, i agree but i thought they were made by another oem like sharp. i remember one olivetti that was the same as sharps big master machine, 770, 781. the 781 used to talk to you with like 20 voice commands in a lame jap robotic tone. the bottom line is all oem's had their "dogs" but i would have to say the worse overall were ALL panasonic analogs, JUNK
