I am having a problem with our church copier, an EP1085 displaying code C0520 [which I think is high fuser temperature] and tripping out after a few seconds.

I cleaned everything in the fuser unit and checked the bulb, which seems good, but still get the error code and tripping.

It may be the thermistor but I don't know what resistance it should be. I metered the out of circuit thermistor resistance, and cold it is about 1M6. Heated gently with a hot air gun it fell to about 80 Kohms. Can anyone advise me if this is a bad thermistor please?

Can anyone please confirm whether this machine is auto reset after a fault is repaired, or is there a trick to resetting it.

I would be grateful to know if there is anything else I should be checking which could be giving rise to this code.

Many thanks

if memory serves me correctly, it will be the sam as the 1083 and 1052's. all fuser error codes can only be cleared by the reset switch on the main board at the back. take the back cover off is the easiest way to find it. its at the bottom middle of the board. press that with the copier on and it will reset the code. make sure you have cleaned all the built up toner off the thermistor first but. the thermistor sounds alright by its measurements but i could always be wrong on that

The reset switch on this model is at the front.
Open the toner door ( upper front door) on the left you will see small cover that is held by screw, remove the screw and cover. You will find small pwb, push the "trouble button" on in it while machine is running.
Good luck.
