My friend had purchased a C350 a year or so ago. he never did get the fs 601 finisher to staple(or so he says)
He recently purchased a C450 and that one had a FS 601. My first thoughts were they should not be the same finisher so i looked them up and sure enough the C450 does not use the FS 601 yet his machine has one and it works. Are they backwards compatible. The reason i ask is i have a customer that is getting a C450 but does not need the FS603 or whatever will come with it. I have another customer that messed up his finisher and paper transport in the move. Can i assume the finisher will work? Can i at least assume that it has the same mechanical parts and i can rebuild his finisher with the gears from the new one?
Confused

Mechanically there the same, the programs are a little different. The 601 was for the C350 and the 603 the C351/C450. I going from memory here which isnt always that good but I think the 601 works on the C450 and most of its features work when your copying, where you will lose functionality is printing, you may not be able to staple or fold in certain ways or complete a book.

i looked it up and you are correct but the odd thing is the FS601 is working perfectly on his C450 but his other machine (the C350 that also has a FS601) will not fold or staple??? weird
When i went to pick up the C450 today with a finisher it turns out it had a FS507 but my other customer damaged the gears in a move (where the paper transport bridge connects to the finisher). I am not sure if the gears are the same in these 2 as the design is slightly different. Any thoughts on that one? Can i take gears out of a FS507 to quiet down the FS601?
Thanks in advance
Derrick

You say mechanically the 601 and 603 are the same. Problem is i need to use a 507 now to try to fix gear noise (coming from where the paper transport bridge connects to the finisher). What are the chances that the gears in that section are the same?
I have a good 507 and a noisy 601
?? help please
Derrick
