C 253 not print colour

Hi i have a c253 which sometimes stops printing colour, i switch it off or open and close front cover and it start printing in colour again any clues please many thanks Dave N

It has only happened when printing to it

From the same PC?
On the KM site you can find several drivers. The one called "mono" allows only b&W prints on a color box.

Are we talking a color/grayscale thing, or dropping CMY plates?

You print a colour job and it drops all the colour plates but works again if you reset doors or switch off and on

HVPS springs to mind -- but I'm not in front of my resources.

I had the same model do this to me no long after changing the transfer belt. It would do this when printing or copying. Turns out it was some kind of a problem with the transfer belt, I replaced it again which solved the issue. It could also be the clutch that provides drive to the belt that pushes down the rollers on the color units.
