Fax 8070P, DR8000 drumchange.

Have no experience with this gem but must change the DR8000 drum. Question: How to get rid of the "Change Drum" indication in the display? Is the drum chipped?

As far as I remember there is plastic piece like triangle which is mounted on new drum. After you power on fax that plastic piece would come out of fuser and that resets drum! If you have that plastic you could mount it on the old drum and do a reset. Those drums can do more that one life cycle.

Just googled how it works:

"on those models the new drums were shipped with a clear plastic piece (SHEET) stuck in the drum. when you installed it the plastic piece would exit out cuasing the sensor flag in the fuser to actuate a few times becuase there are notches in the plastic piece. So it resets by this piece actauting a sensor in the fuser within a few seconds. If you dont have one look for someone who does or if you have a new one install the piece from that and put back in the new unit when done. I use to carry these around with me because i had lots of customers pull them and not have them when I came out to fix the issue".

Thanks. This new drum comes without the sheet. :(

I have the DR 200, DR250 and DR300 drum reset sheet template. Maybe it will work for you?
