Did you run F8 after replacing drum and dev?

Hi there!
When changing Drum&Developer (allways together!) itīs important to reset the counters in the servicemenue. Otherwise you allways get this error-message f8 done or not!

utillity meter ,meter details stop 00 stop 01 then counter then special counter. clear the first two. turn machine off with main side left sw. leave right door open. turn on machine go back in make sure they are 0. then under function select f8 hit start key big button close door let machine run till light turns blue. password is 00000000. follow these exactly as i have stated. failure to do so results in 2557 again

I service about 50 of these machines at a local college and have seen c2557 alot. I was going crazy trying to figure out what was going wrong. I would change the developer unit, drum and starter together. The machine would run about 2000 copies and the code would come back. I tried changing the "A" board, there is a bulletin about changing a fan, nothing worked. The problem turned out to be the solonid in the toner drive mechanism.I've done about 8 of these and not one has come back. What happens is it starts to stick. If you tap it with your finger you can see that it doesn't pop up all the time. Order the entire assembly, don't change just the solonid.

We had a large fleet of these machines and still have some. Changing the sticky patch of the solenoids in the Hopper Drive Unit (page26, position 46 parts manual) was enough. No need to replace the whole unit. Patches must be replaced with anything non-magnetic with a similar thickness. Just leaving them out will not work.

Lot of work to take the Hopper Drive Unit out. When re-installing, after replacing the sticky patch, take care that the marked bushing fits in the corresponding hole in the rear frame of the machine otherwise you'll face a new problem.

After doing the above, you might try to raise the ATDC Sensor Gain to 165 in the hope that the machine will accept the over saturated developer. If drum and developer are not too old you might try to use the procedure Woxner described otherwise you have to replace at least the developer and follow again the procedure from Woxner.

Good luck

Hans

I know it may be a little bit offtopic, but is it possible that same reasons can occur in bizhub 222 with same C2557 error code?
I do have one machine which constantly does it, we had to change it for the customer, now it's sitting in our office and I would like to revive it :)
