hi guys,
has anyone encountered the error "drum error black" displayed on the panel and the machine cannot be used? we have replaced the black drum already but the error keeps on coming back. kindly help...thanks a lot....

Are you sure you didn't put a color drum in, instead of a black?

Agree with previous post , youve fitted a color drum instead of black , they are chipped differently.

I am sure that we have not put a color drum into the black drum unit. We have checked the wiring and so far the error has not yet appeared. The error appears intermittently. I wanted a permanent solution...thanks

we have already updated the firmware, version 90 is the one that is loaded in the machine

Latest firmware for C280 is D0. Try that first.
Also check that there's no toner covering the Relay Connector that connects with the chip on the bottom of the drum unit.

has the firm ware been upgraded to allow contiuios use after life over has been reached if so oil can willbe displayed on control panel ,if is it a new drum you are fitting ie with a new chip to reset it

hi is it new oem drum units you are fitting or drum kits? is it possible you are fitting kits and have a couple of bad chips? we have all had it. i do think you should upgrade to the newest firmware it is the first thing km tech will ask

I had this problem. And he's not crazy the machine will intermittenly say "drum error k"
Per koncia I replaced both the PRCB and the Front Rely Board (little board the dev units plug into)
It was covered under warranty so I didnt bother to find out which one was the real fix, because again it was intermittent and I didn't want another call back.
