I have an oppurtunity to purchase this model really cheap. It does need an imaging unit.

Has this historically been a reliable machine?

Thanks

Historically is the problem. It's been obsolete for a long time. If you are able to find parts this time it will probably be the last time.
I'm assuming that this is a Di3510, which started production 9 years ago. In the copier industry 7 years is a realistic amount of time to have parts and service available. For a really amazing, unusually wonderful machine the longest I've ever seen a machine supported is 10 years, just around the corner. That's why it is so cheap. =^..^=

The di3510 is a newer version. The di351 is even older.

Di351/350/251/250 is a *peice of S%!t* full stop.

It is now, and it was when it was new too, nothing has changed, other than it becoming even more of a *peice of S%!t* as time goes on.

Di3510/2510/f on the other hand is a very decent machine if a good condition unit can be found, though its starting to get a bit old now. I have given 3 of these machines to friends with business's that were traded in, after i stripped, cleaned and went thru every part of them. I have never had any issues with any of them and that was now 3 years ago. I'm a long term technician and they have my tick of approval, along with their replacements b250/b350 etc, etc... Very simple to work on, very reliable machines.

Not a terrible machine but very quirky. In a low volume and clean surrounding I would consider a machine with a low copy count. As previously mentioned, this machine may be on the dinosaur/ obsolescence list.

The Di351 was introduced in 05/01.

The worst thing about the Di351 is the DF. Not a bad machine in it's day though. Not one I would recommend buying to put in the field.
The IU you have to get is worth way more than the copier you have to put it in.
Hope this helps

You can do better. Hate the doc feeder. Fuser is a bitch to rebuild also.

Precision has a IU rebuild kit for $50.00. Toner is still available and junker machines are cheap.
I put Richo poly paper feed rollers in the ADF (yes they fit) and the jamming has reduced with the rollers and sep lasting longer.
Like every copier, once you know the tricks and keep them clean..........You can make a machine last as long as you want.
Just have to remember to unplug it from the wall before you work on it.

The 3510"s would blow boards just by looking at it funny. We had 4 in the shop within 6 weeks for board problems and Minolta told us to just start swapping boards.
