I have been told the C6501 and C6500 are basically the same machine. I have 2 c6501's and have always used the TN-612 toner.

Are the toners interchangable - or do you have to modifiy the bottles?

i can go through a ton of toner, finding it hard to get tn612 but easy to get tn10.

any help would be appreciated.

The Developer is the same but as far as I know, the C6501 uses the new style HD toner & the C6500 does not.

I wouldn't want to try it, if it didin't work then you'd be looking at a hopper clean out and a developer change at least.

The developer is premixed carrier and toner, if its the same part number for both machines id be willing to bet the toner would work in either too. (after modding the bottle or holder)

i know for a fact that a tech friend had a call to a office that had both a C6500 and C6501, and they some how got the Tn610 into the C6501 it worked fine, just couldn't get it out when it was empty, had to dissemble the entire toner hopper.

but the toner was not modified.

I know konica say its simiti HD2, finer toner. but i have put my hands on both and they are very very similar.

I guess what i will do i right before i am due for a service, ill try to mod the hopper for a yellow tn610, and see what happens. worst case i have to replace DV, best case i can get toner cheaper.

I have 920s running tn910 toner but i have a modified hopper running tn911 toner (made for the 950s' without any issues)....

just have to swap tops.
