The code can be reset, but comes back. I reset HDD unit. Is this bad HDD? Is this plug and play new part or does it require software?

Sorry. I failed to write it down, crazy day! I will post when I get it. I'm thinking of replacing it. Is the format tab on the main tech mode or an additional function? It's been a while since Ive worked on one of these. Will they lose printing/scanning upon install of new HDD?
